I have heard a couple of things about this show now, first off it was from Ruben (my regular commenter and reader), whilst doing a music post on Cee Lo Green Ruben informed me that the guy was a judge on this show and just so happens to spend his time hitting on the contestants who are way to young for him.
Now news has broke today that BBC have paid £2m for the rights to do a British version of the show. As well as the US, the show originally went out in Netherlands "the Voice of Holland" earlier this year and was a massive hit. The US version of the show has a four piece judging panel Cee Lo as I mentioned above, former Disney girl Christina Aguilera, lead singer of Maroon 5 Adam Levine and American country music artist Blake Shelton all star in the show that has been msaking big noise in this corner of the market, the show was maybe cast into a bit of a shadow here in the UK as Simon Cowell was busy sacking Cheryl Cole from the American X Factor.
The show is set up in three diffrent stages and all four of the judges are noteworthy recording artists, the initial auditions are blind and the judges must choose who they want on their team (for want of a better word), from there the show moves onto a battle stage where the rival contestants and judges go head to head with their acts singing the same song and the best going through to the next round. The show then goes to a live performance section where the vote goes to the public to help decide who will win the show.
The show will aire here in the UK in 2012, meaning that it will not serve up as competition for this years X Factor due to it starting in the next month or so but, if it's an early show next year it is due to go out on a Saturday night meaning that it will go head to head with the next series of Britains Got Talent. No judges have been confirmed for the show as yet but the obvious names being banded around are former X Factor judges Dannii Minouge and Cheryl Cole.
The American show was won by Javier Colon who was mentored by Adam Levine, you can check out his performance on the show below.
