Dexter Season 5 Episode 9 - Teenage Wasteland

Saturday, 13 August 2011

This is the best freaking show on TV, right? Just like the Killing did yesterday, Dexter got me from the start last night. Thanks largely to Dexter doing some jogging with his latest target Jordan Chase "this is a way to build a new you", "a way to re create yourself". I don't think so Jordan Dexter killed you chief of security last week and guess what? You are next on the menu. On that topic what is Dexter doing booking more appointments with Jordan Chase's secretary, Ruben said it all last week Dexter is starting to leave way to much evidence and suggestion in peoples way now, he must surely be close to getting caught.

Mind you asides from the occasional disturbance of his actual job and his serial killing hobby, Dexter would appear to have plenty time on his hands or abs to work out.

This was another brilliant episode of Dexter gripping from start to finish. Dexter actually had to go to work this week leaving Lumen in the house, that presents a problem especially when someone is trying to break in via both doors. "Who the f**K are you", err no more importantly on my part who the f**k are they! It took me until they all woke up next morning to figure out it's Dexter's step daughter Astor (Christina Robinson) and her friend Olivia (Tabitha Morella). I thought for a moment the night before when Lumen was stuck in the bathroom with a knife that I was watching a slasher movie and some drunken teenagers were about to be slashed up. Maybe I didn't realise it was Astor due to the fact I'm a new comer to season 5 and haven't seen any of the others.

New or not I was pleased to see Harry (James Remar) back this week, he's had a couple of weeks off and I was kinda missing his little pep talks with Dexter, this week it was purely about how proud he was of Dexter, that was really the feel of this episode Dexter becoming a better father to Harrison ,Astor and her brother, don't remember his name. As always with Dexter that was mixed with some true laughs and tense moments

It has been good to see Harrison back to, remember he's learning to talk. Kids always say stuff at the most inappropriate time, don't they? Just as Dexter is half way on convincing Astor that Lumen is only a tenant and not his girlfriend Harrison goes and says "Ma, ma", the look of awkwardness on Lumen and Dexter face was hilarious, maybe they could all grow to be one big happy family.

Did Dexter like forget that Debra was with him when he went home, he thought that Astor and her friend had been taken by Chase or one of his cronies, luckily they weren't and they all headed back to Dexter's only for Debra to come face to face with Lumen, she's like "I thought you told me nothing was new, did you forget to mention the hot blonde holed up in your house", hot blonde, make that extremely hot blonde Julia Stiles must have been majorly dressed down for the Bourne movies.

There was a good laugh to be had during the hunt for the two girls when they find them down at the Marina and Olivia's step dad Elliot (Rick Peters) says to Dexter "Teenagers they can make you homicidal", Dexter's says "tell me about it".

Debra has been suspended remember, that means she has been shoved into the record filing room, could that be bad news for her brother? The first bunch of files she lays eyes on where the unsolved crimes, most of which her brother is probably responsible for. Any way after one of her finds, the girls in the barrels case has now been re opened, Dexter has got some quick work to do getting around to Chase and all his associates who have been involved. He is going to have to work quick after his training session with Chase Dexter stole a sample of what appeared to be blood from a necklace, it would appear at this point that Chase knows a little more about Dexter and his intentions than he thinks.

This wheel of Dexter's seems to be seriously coming off during this episode, I don't think I seen as much not go in his favour all at once, he is going to have to be careful Debra now also knows that Quinn was looking into Dexter for being alter ego Kyle Butler, he insists to Debra he's an idiot (yeah) but he has still put the thought in her head.

I thought Robocop (Stan Liddy) played an excellent part in this episode, when you get him and Quinn (Desmond Harrington) together on screen it's like no contest of who is winning the battle, he is starting to find out way to much about both Dexter and Lumen. Maybe Dexter is going to have to deal with the alcoholic looking ex cop.

We all know Dexter is like the best serial killer knocking around these days, this episode we had a bit of a twist with him handing out a major ass whooping in the alley way to Olivia's step father Elliot after finding out that he has been beating her, that was another laugh on the night not the beating up but when Dexter took her home and she said that Elliot had left telling her mother she had a fat ass just as Dexter had ordered him to do.

The episode was capped off with what was another brilliant ending, Chase calls Dexter's house looking to speak with him but Lumen answers the phone. Chase knows exactly who she is and isn't shy in letting her know. "Tell Dexter something for me Lumen, tick, tick, tick that's the sound of his life running out".

The Killing Season 1 Episode 7 - Vengance

Friday, 12 August 2011

I have to say first off that this has got to be the most tense start to a TV show I have seen for ages now, the acting of Brent Sexton (Stan Larsen) and Brandon Jay McLaren (Bennett Ahmed) was amazing, the episode picked up at the exact point we left it last week with Stan driving Bennett down a dark lonely road. Eventually they pulled up in an abandoned car park and Stan got out to look over what I guess was a river or estuary. Bennett is left fumbling around in the car you would think probably looking for a gun at this point. Stan Larsen is a reformed mobster remember, he acted as a heavy for the Polish Mob before leaving that life behind to start a family.

I'm thinking Bennett is in for the beating of his life off Stan, this has got to be the most gripping start to an episode yet, right then Stan walks away again I'm thinking there is a plank of wood going over Bennett head any minute now, just watch. But no the reformed hard man doesn't do that anymore it's not the person he wants to be, he just quietly gets back in his car. Oh man that was that disappointing I thought some vigilante justice was about to be handed out but, would it have been to the wrong man?

Just as all of that finishes we switch straight to detective Linden (Mereille Enos) who is sitting with Bennett's wife frantically trying to get in touch with either Stan or Bennett. Mrs Ahmed is telling Linden a story of just how special Bennett is and that he loves his job and the kids, yeah we got that already Mrs Ahmed. I think the problem is he or someone he knows very well likes high school kids a little to much.
Did Bennett kill Rosie Larsen? It would now appear not following the meeting with Ahmed's wife Linden was told about a guy named Mohammad who comes round the house to study with Bennett, she doesn't like him very much and has put him in the frame for being at the house the same night Bennett had Rosie round. We don't know to much about this guy right now and the leader of the local community wasn't helping either. Not that you can blame him, one of the young girls who he knows is missing and as yet police have done nothing about it. What we do know is that Mohammad has been making regular visits to the Bennett household lately.

Talk about bad timing here, I'm on late shift this week and watched this show at 2am having recorded it earlier, there is never much in the way of lightness in the show and this week just as Council man Richmond is going to get it on with his lady friend my satellite box loses signal and the recording goes all funny, a little disappointing if I'm honest but you probably wouldn't have seen much anyway.
The nanny who I have mentioned as being a possible suspect that no one has thought about for the last couple of weeks has even left my suspicion of her behind now. She is Mitch Larsen's (Rosie's mom) sister and if she has been involved then she is acting way to cool for my liking.

Also going on this week was the ongoing saga of Detective Linden, she was meant to be leaving to get married but once again she missed her flight, who cares? no one not even Linden to much, the rest of the story is far to gripping. This Council man Richmond is all just a little to clean cut also, he went over to some lady's house this week, whats he got to feel guilty about? The lady he went to see, who is she? Obviously her daughter was killed by a drunk driver but whats that got to do with Richmond? It may not be involved in the main story at all but we will see. Finally Detectives Holden (Joel Kinnaman) and Linden get a lead on Mohammad which takes them to what looks like a butchers, just as the episode started it finished in the same way, another tense moment with them creeping through the dark with only torches. They break into a big refrigerator, and the looks on their faces tells you what's in there ain't good. Just then the FBI burst in guns and all pinning them to the ground, have they just messed up a major investigation? Another fantastic episode of the Killing this week and I cant wait for the next installment, only three episode left now.

New Cinema Releases: 12th August 2011

Friday again and everyone’s favourite post of the week, right? As always I will detail everything that is worth your effort and time in a trip down to your local cinema this weekend, and it’s a good one to. Two movies this week both of which are big releases, on that note I’ll start with my top release of the week.

I first heard of this movie a while ago. The Devil’s Double at first seemed to me that it would be a movie similar to the Devil’s Advocate, starring Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves. I then started to see the various posters up on bus shelters and other media, that got me thinking this is going to be like Scarface also starring Al Pacino, I’m now thinking I have to see this movie.

Starring: Dominic Cooper, Ludivine Sagnier and Philip Quast

The movie has nothing to do with the two comparisons that I have made above, it is a little Gangster (ish) I suppose but more in the form of a ruthless dictators son. It focuses on Uday Hussein (Cooper), the son of Saddam Hussein. The film documents the lavish lifestyle of a man who helps himself to what he wants when he wants it. Lieutenant Latif Yahia (also Cooper) is summonsed to Saddam’s palace and ordered to act as a body double for Uday, his “fiday”. Betrayel and corruption are now all around Latif as he struggles on who to trust while trying to escape his forced existence.
I’ve heard really good things about this movie and it’s one I think I will see just out of curiosity more than anything. Latif Yahia actually helped write the movie to, so that should make it pretty true to form I would think.

Next up this week some Apes, really freakishly realistic looking Apes actually. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is the rehash to the movie which starred Mark Wahlberg which incidentally I haven’t seen, maybe that’s a good thing, I don’t know. I mentioned this movie not long after starting this blog and if I’m honest I wondered what all the fuss was about, having now seen the trailer I can see what the fuss was about. This movie looks pretty decent if not for the effects alone.

Starring: James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto and John Lithgow

This movie is a rehash or going over if you like and acts as a foundation for a new film series, which look entirely better than the last lot we saw. Will Rodman (Franco) is a San Francisco based scientist working on a cure of Alzheimer’s disease, he gets a baby Chimpanzee who he names Cesar (Serkis), Cesar’s mother was one of his test subjects who is killed after going on the rampage. Cesar has inherited her high level of intelligence due to the testing and it doesn’t take him long to start figuring things out for himself sparking an all out war for supremacy.

Like I say I haven’t actually seen the other movies made before this one but, this does look really promising and like the other movie mentioned here today this is one I will be adding to my must see list.

*I'm going to add a shameless plug for followers now, if you come here often you will have noticed the new Networked Blogs box on the right, please follow the blog if you use Facebook or Twitter and recommend it to your friends, cheers.*

Midweek Mixtape: Nicole Scherzinger, Olly Murs and Enrique Iglesias

Thursday, 11 August 2011

Back to normal for you this week, with loads, well not loads but three tracks that are popular now and would be quite likely to do well in the charts. We went a little mellow rock last week, I quite liked it but it didn't do quite as well as the normal post, so here you go.

First off is Nicole Scherzinger, you may have heard of her she was in the Pussycat Dolls goes out with Lewis Hamilton, yeah? Now she is solo and due to release the fourth single Wet from her album killer love on August 29th. Check out the video below in which Nicole threatens in the first minute to rip her clothes off, now being a red blooded male that was enough for me to watch the full 3.55 video, I won't spoil it for you.

Winning the X Factor never turns out like you expect it to, does it? If you are lucky enough to finish second then you usually stand a better chance of making an album than if you win. This has definitly been the case with Olly Murs, who has a new video out with Rizzle Kicks who we mentioned here last week. I'm not the biggest fan of that song so thought I would remind you of this one from the X Factor runner up, Please Don't Let Me Go is in the video below.

Next up is Enrique Iglesias Ft Usher, the song is called Dirty Dancer. It's one of those that takes a lttle while to grow on you I suppose, I've heard it a few times now and to be honet I'm not the biggest fan of the Enrique. I heard this song again yesterrday in the car, it was pissing it down at the time and this song went along way to cheering up my mood.

Falling Skies Season 1 Episode 6 - Sanctuary (Part 1)

Wednesday, 10 August 2011

First off who is that jumped up extra in the opening scene trying to loot the pharmacy, isn't there enough of that going on right now.

Lt Terry Clayton showed up this week, don't worry I hadn't heard of him either, he is in charge of 7th Massachusetts another group of survivors. I say survivors he has shown up to tell us that the alien Skitters have taken most of his people leaving only five. 2nd Mass now have a decision to make do they ship their kids off with the seemingly trustworthy Clayton or do they keep them at the high school and try to keep them safe whilst they fight off the latest attack of Skitters.

"They weren't monsters they were our family", that is what we were hearing from what appears to be a fully recovered Ben this week. "They loved us" is what he told his youngest brother. Imagine your dad knew everything you wanted before you even knew yourself, what do the Skitters want with the kids? Ben of course still has the remnants of the alien harness on his back but he seems to be recovering a lot better than the kid who was rescued the week before him. Time with the aliens really didn't seem to do Ben much harm, he can now do 100 press ups without breaking sweat, imagine the six pack! (I mean for yourself, not his).

I liked the scene where DR Glass (Moon Bloodgood) was being trained how to fire a gun by the new girl in camp, I don't remember her name. Does anyone else notice the women in these shows are always pretty, perfectly presented? It's never the one from the local trailer park that wants to kick some alien ass.

Since the Skitters where coming to attack the John F Kennedy school where the 2nd Mass are holed up, they thought it would be best to try and barricade the school a little. This had two of the figters sitting on a bus situated at an outpost playing chess, kinda reminded me of Jeff Goldblum in Independence day. They got attacked by a Skitter and Mech making the rest of the fighters leave their posts in the school to come to their aid, that of course leaves the school wide open, will anything get in? The Skitter that attacked the school is by far the worse looking CGI one I have seen so far, the Mech's usually look pretty fake but for a TV budget the Skitters usually look pretty good.

The Sanctuary, refers to a place two hours up the road where Lt Clayton wants to take all the kids for their own protection apparently, I would say this was the point I was having my doubts about this guy but thought I would give him a chance. Tom's (Noah Wyle) son Hal who is one of 2nd Mass's best fighters decided to go with them so he isn't entirely trusting Clayton yet, especially when he took them a different way to what he was expecting.

If you hadn't seen it coming by now it's all then revealed, Clayton is dirty. He has been working with the Skitters and has clearly been ordered to deliver the children to them. I read a review of season 1 over at Hubpages which involved a spoiler that I won't reveal here, but it makes the spoiler more clear now and gives me a inkling as to why Tom goes and does what he does.

I wouldn't say this is one of the best episodes I have seen, I think Part 2 may well be better. I do think this one provided a good part of the storyline though, like Clayton working with the Skitters, what does he get out of it? Probably nothing, but we'll see.

Upcoming Movie Trailer: The Sitter Starring Jonah Hill

Tuesday, 9 August 2011

First off, would you trust Jonah Hill or any character he has ever played with the responsibility of looking after your children? Secondly would you allow your children to be in this movie? I did read somewhere that producers made it well worth their while. We know by now that any movie starring Jonah is probably going to be some sort of gross out comedy, right? The gross out usually means lots of swearing and scenes that you may consider inappropriate for children. The sitter really doesn't look like it has moved to far from that, it's certainly not the Pacifier (Vin Diesel).

The movie if you haven't already guessed is about a babysitter, who knew? It's stars Jonah hill as a student who has been suspended from college (no surprises there) he gets a gig looking after the next door neighbours children, a task for which he is woefully unprepared.

The trailer has come out on the net this week, and as you have guessed it's not for children, so if you are under age then please don't watch the trailer below. If you are an adult and like a couple of vulgar laughs then go ahead, press play. Enjoy the pre trailer interview to.

The movie also stars Sam Rockwell (Moon, Iron Man 2), Ari Graynor (Mysitc River, Date Night) and just to add to the kids entertainment Gangster rapper Method Man also makes an appearance. The movie was actually set to be released in theatres this month but has now been pushed back December for the US and January for the UK.

"Poll Results" And Your Favourite Superhero Is

Following an extensive week long poll here on Movies Music & Television a whole 5 people voted as to who their favourite superhero is. Turns out no one likes Captain America he didn’t get one single vote, no one likes Superman either.

Votes went to Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman, Iron Man and The Hulk. They all got one vote each.

I was expecting to have a little more to write about in relation to the poll but I guess no one saw it on the right sidebar, and it seems that superhero polls are much of a much ness on the net. For that reason I’ll talk about one of the superhero’s who got your vote. It will be brief as there really isn’t much to say.

The Hulk who received one vote from someone, I’ll presume either Glen or Ruben just happened to be on TV here Saturday night. It wasn’t the Edward Norton version either it was Eric Bana, quite possibly the worst superhero movie I have seen. I watched the movie in full sometime back and on Saturday decided to switch it off after about 15 minutes, why? Well like I said above it’s bad.

A mini movie review of Hulk (2003)

I like Eric Bana, movies like Munich and Chopper are great, but for me his version of Hulk was a awful. I actually enjoyed it the first time I saw it but having watched part of it again at the weekend it’s more like a kiddie adventure than a feature film. I did like some of the casting in the movie Eric Bana of course, then Nick Nolte as Hulk’s father was also a good choice, Lou Ferrigno the original Hulk from the TV show also plays a canny little cameo.

It’s just a shame really that none of that reflects in the movie, I am yet to see the Norton version but have seen plenty of reviews and can only imagine that it’s better than this one, maybe someone can enlighten me. I think looking back on the movie now my favourite part was actually the end when Eric Bana is in the Amazon working as a Doctor, some guys try to steal some medical supplies and he mumbles “me haces, no me gusta cuando estoy enojado” which is Spanish for “you’re making me angry, you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry”. No I can’t speak Spanish that is courtesy of Google Translate, the only Spanish I pick up is usually courtesy of Dora The Explorer.

Since the Poll was effectively a draw I suppose I get the casting vote. I going to say that it’s a draw between Iron Man and Spider-Man. Thanks for the votes and maybe I’ll run another poll sometime.

Geordie Shore Heads For Magaluf

Monday, 8 August 2011

I warned you didn’t I if you wanted to keep up with all the latest Geordie Shore news you should follow my blog. What have we all been doing with ourselves the last couple of months on a Tuesday night with no Geordie Shore? Watching something else I guess.

Can’t wait any longer for your fix? No. Then good news Greg, Jay, Gaz, James, Charlotte, Vicky, Holly and Sophie will be back on our screens on 23rd August 2011. Geordie Shore Magaluf Madness will be a two part special the second episode will be on 30th August, both will be on MTV at 10pm.

Video: Trailer: Geordie Shore: Magaluf Madness

The will no doubt be loads of tashing and tantrums, they will literally be in there like swimwear, or getting on it like a car bonnet.

Will Vicky and Jay finally get it on? Will Charlotte finally realise Gaz just uses her? (doubt it), how many people will Holly fall out with? And finally will Greg or James ever pull? Well as you know anything is possible in Shagaluf.

The Monday Movie Review: Faster Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

This is a movie that I have been waiting to get round to for a while now, but since I saw Fast Five I decided that maybe antoher actioner starring former wrestler The Rock may be a little to much to take. Anyway there's nothing on TV this has been sitting there long enough lets give it a try and see what it's like.

Starring: Dwyane Johnson, Billy Bob-Thornton, Maggie Grace and Oliver Jackson-Cohen

The Plot

Driver (Dwayne Johnson) is an ex con, who was roped into being the getaway driver for a bank robbery his brother was planning. The gang get double crossed Drivers brother gets killed and Driver ends up doing a ten year stretch for his trouble. Now released from prison he is out to get revenge from the people who hijacked their loot, only to be persued by a veteran cop and egocentric hitman.

The Verdict

Well for starts this movie is 100 times better than Fast Five, so there is one reason to watch it, you want another reason, ok I'll give you one. It's been a while since I saw Dwayne Johnson kick that much ass and in spectacular fashion to. The title of this movie is not misleading in anyway, Faster is exactly what it says on the tin and bearly comes up for breath at any point during one mighty revenge mission. It's like Johnson back to being the Rock "If Ya Smeeeel, What The Rock Is Cooking" he literally come out and wipes the floor, singular vision only wanting to inflict pain on those who crossed him.

Now that's a pretty impressive first paragraph for the vedict and just like the movie it gets into things pretty quick. Don't get me wrong I ain't saying that this movie is going to win awards and it's not the best movie I have ever seen but if it's action that you are after then this movie won't lead you far wrong.

Johnson is back to doing what he does best, in movies like The Rundown, Walking Tall and Doom, some would probably say this is the perfect movie for him. They would probably be right because of his size you actually beleive he really is that hard and capable of what he does in these type of movies. That's not critisizing, I mean Hugh Grant knows what he's good at and sticks to it so why shouldn't Dwayne Johnson.

Billy Bob, is pretty good here to. A down and out cop coming up to retirement who has managed to get himself hooked on alcohol and drugs. But don't be fooled he's still as shap as a knife and his part in the story is more than you expect, see if you get it before I did. Which was the end of the movie by the way. The other hitman named Killer (Cohen) is beleivable here to but for me a little to posh and Clive Owen like and his girlfriend Lily (Maggie Grace), well need I say more.

This movie is the perfect DVD for a saturday night filled with beers and popcorn with a good twist thrown in at the end and I can't say better than that.

Would I watch it again?

I would, maybe not on DVD but when it comes to TV I will probably see it again and again.

Rating: MMM

Upcoming Movie Trailer: In Time Starring Justin Timberlake

Sunday, 7 August 2011

I'm a fan of JT can I just say that, for a guy who only released two solo albums his music career speaks for itself. Since his move into movies everyone, myself included was wondering how it would go. Movies like Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, Edison and Bad Teacher, ok the last two may not be great but his performance was good. At leasT that's what I'm lead to believe in Bad Teacher, I'm watching it this weekend so will let you know in the review. I think you can guess where I'm going with this, up to now Timberlakes movie choices have generally been good ones.

Justin Timberlake plays Wil Salas in the movie which is set in the future where the aging gene has been switched off to avoid over population and time has become the currency. The rich can live forever while the rest are left to struggle and negotiate. Wil is handed a gift of time, and although he is to late to save his mothers life, he still has a chance at his. He soon finds himself on the run from a corrupt police force known as the time keepers. Take a look at the trailer below and let me know what you think.

I think this movie is a pretty good shout, it has a hint of Equilibrium about it and shows a total different side to Justin Timberlake. The movie also stars Cillian Murphy (The Wind That Shakes The Barley, Sunshine), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number 4), Olivia Wilde (Tron, House), and Amanda Seyfield (Mean Girls, Mama Mia). The movie opens in the US on October 25th and then November 1st in the UK.

Two And A Half Men Season 9

Saturday, 6 August 2011

This isn't exactly hot off the press but as always I get it to you as quick as I can. We have all been waiting long enough now for the return of America's biggest comedy. Come September that wait will be over when Two And A Half Men premiers on CBS.

As we all know the shows main character Charlie Sheen had a bit of a falling out with Mr Lorre the shows producer, I think it was along the lines of of Sheen calling him a "contaminated little maggot". Turns out that does you no favours as well as being fired from the show Sheen will now see his character Charlie Harper killed off at the beginning of the ninth season, and no that doesn't mean he will be in it. As yet producers haven't decided how to do it but Lorre is making sure there is no way we will see Charlie Harper on the show again.

All this comes out in light of the new publicity photo shoot done with the new cast, or that should be new cast member, Raymond will be played by Ashton Kutcher, who knew? No details have been released as to what his part will be, it looks like he is going to be the guy who buys Charlie's house, that wouldn't explain why Alan and Jake still live there. Maybe Alan will be claiming squatters rights.

Nine seasons in now and the show has come along way from the picture above, the Half Men part of course referring to Jake. He was just a kid when the show started. Maybe now they should just call it Three Men, Or Two Men One Teenager, Na wouldn't really work would it? Don't know about you but I cant wait for the new show to start, and I just hope it works as well as it did with Charlie Sheen.

Dexter Season 5 Episode 8 - Take It

Wait a minute what's this? sorry for a moment there I thought I had the wrong channel on. Turns out I was just getting some motivation from Jordan Chase, really don't need that at 10pm. Cheers though. Dexter doesn't really need much motivation either, or at least he seems not to as he was asleep during Jordan's little talk no doubt dreaming up a plot to kill his head of security Cole Harmon, an ex marine who likes to beat and torture women, what a hero!

Back to Chase's hotel room, the Business suite. Could they not come up with anything more original? Dexter would appear to be getting played at his own game at this point, just how much does Jordan Chase already know about him?

Who is Owen? I guess unless you are American and a fan of Dexter you didn't know until last night either, "since the day of the wedding I have respected your wishes, I haven't called or anything" Lumen's married? No wait she's not, you find out later she was engaged to Owen, man she kept that quiet. To late Owen I think Dexter may have stole her heart, after all she's just as good at keeping secrets as he is.

I'm just going to throw something out here, Dexter is sending Lumen down to the shops to buy all of the necessities needed to kill someone without leaving any traces. Police are pretty clever these days (trust me), they would probably think to look at people buying that sort of thing. Although in this case no one actually knows these people go missing, so nothing really to investigate yet. Lumen was also busy all day on the computer looking into Jordan Chase and his associates, haven't they heard of IP addresses. Dexter may well be a computer whiz to who knows how to wipe his hard drive back to zero every night, who knows?

Lumen went to meet her Fiance, argh shucks Owen loves her, but so does Dexter I think. I run across pictures on the net from Dexter sometimes that I really don't want to see yet the latest being Dexter in bed with Lumen, as you've guessed I haven't seen that episode yet but I'm pretty sure they will be getting it on at some point, and that Lumen will turn down the opportunity to go around the world with Owen.

Robocop is still on the case to, and oh man he has seen all of the hotel room supplies in the back of Dexter's car, Lumen then left the car park and drove straight to the hotel to kit out Cole's hotel room. She decides now would be a good time to tell Dexter about Owen and his offer of the trip, he manages to talk her round though and she helps Dexter clean proof the room, can't you get fingerprints off plastic? Just then Lumen figures out that Dexter has been doing this for a while, yeah about 5 years now, he's a pro.

You got a couple of good laughs this weeks as always, first off when Dexter is telling Lumen where he'll M99 Cole, sounds like he's gonna Blackberry message him or something (hey M99 me, dude). He gets M99'd anyway and Dexter kills Cole, first by doing his trade mark cut to the right cheek. Checking out the hotel he's sees Jordan and asks him if there's anything wrong, he's like no just a minor security issue. Then Dexter does his talk over saying "like you're chief of security's head being in my bag", yeah that may be it.

This was a great episode of Dexter and I think one of the best I have seen so far, he is getting mighty close to being caught. Robocop has some pictures of him dumping bags off his boat, and now he has killed Cole, the one person that people will notice is missing. Has Dexter met his match? Tick Tick Tick, one of Jordan's favourite little ditty's, sound familiar?

The Killing Season 1 Episode 6 - What You Have Left

Friday, 5 August 2011

Day six of the investigation and main suspect Bennett is still the center of police attention, the pressure is beginning to mount as Holder and Linden question his wife and neighbours. Where has Bennett lived before, Seattle maybe? Last night we saw Linden looking through a load of photo's of people on the missing persons register, all of whom seemed to be young women and probably students from the Seattle area.

I think this episode probably provided us with only the second laugh that I can think of, we saw Holder being told to get smarter the other week. Last night he turned up in a suit, not a good luck for Holder who looked as if he had just borrowed Chuck Norris suit from the set of Walker Texas Ranger.

A few door to door enquiries and the cops now have an eye witness who says he saw Rosie going into Bennett Ahmed's apartment, turns out he ain't the most popular guy on the block and talk about direct questioning. Holder to Bennett "so did Rosie Larsen pop by here last Friday". The cops may as well just tell him we think it was you. Whilst I'm on the subject of holder I knew he was up to something, drugs I thought. I still think he's probably into drugs but he is also passing info out to someone (pictured right), not sure who they are yet but I'm sure we'll find out.

The guy Holder met up with did give us some info though. Remember last week I was saying I don't think Stan Larsen has been the nicest of guys in the past, yeah? Turns out I was right Stan Larsen was the muscle for someones gangster outfit, when Holder inquired that he didn't even have a criminal record the guy just said "dead men don't press charges".

Onto a nosey neighbour now, their a pain in the ass right? Not in this case. They do tend to be older people but in the Killing it's just a guy (loner) who has nothing else better to do than watch his neighbours with his telescope, he has got major info though and is now the second eye witness. Police now know that Bennett's wife was not away the night Rosie Larsen went missing and that she was at the house helping Bennett put what looked like Rosie into a black car.

Finally at Rosie's funeral Stan's friend gets the call we have all been waiting for since last week informing him that Bennett (pictured above) is the person the police are looking at. Stan Larsen offers him a lift home, it's a dark rainy night and you just know this guy is going to get the beating of his life. Luckily for Bennett the end credits rolled before we got to see that but, we did see enough to know that's what will happen next week. Back at the Larsen family home that nanny I was telling you about last week is acting awfully strange, I still think she knows more than she is telling.

Another great episode of a show that is really getting my interest more every week. I would still like it better if they planned to conclude it in one series though.

New Cinema Releases: 5th August 2011

What should I see at the cinema this week? Well as always I'm here to give you the low down on the new films out this week and it's not really the best one. You got two choices really a monster movie that won't scare you and a Penguin movie that may just provide you with the weekend laughs.

First up the Monster movie I mentioned, Super 8 feels like it's been on the way for ages now. So long in fact that I have already seen it a provided a review for you. I actually thought this had already been released here but maybe it's just due to the amount of un-credited hype it received. Super 8 is from J.J. Abrams who is currently producing or directing just about every movie or TV show to come out of Hollywood so maybe that's what all the hype was about.

Starring: Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, Joel Courtney and Kyle Chandler

The movie is set in the summer of 1979 and focuses on a group of kids making their own monster movie. The kids are witness to a train crash that unbeknown to them and the small towns Deputy is transporting something from Area 51 to another remote location in Ohio. Not long after the crash officials from all sorts of government departments turn up in an attempt to keep a lid on things. Strange disappearances and events start happening in the usually quiet town forcing the local Deputy to try and uncover the truth.

Like I said above I have seen this movie and yeah it's pretty good but if it's super scary that you are after then Super 8 won't do it for you, if you are after something a bit more like E.T or Stand By Me then this will be right up your street.

Next up it's one for the kids, Mr. Poppers Penguins. I first became aware of this movie when I saw an advert on the side of a bus shelter (I know I should looking at the road), it caught my eye but I just thought what is Jim Carrey up to? Since then I have seen the trailer on TV and I have to admit that it actually doesn't look that bad, fair enough it might not be great and I don't think I'll go to the cinema to watch it but it looks like you may get a laugh or two.

Starring: Jim Carrey, Carla Gugino and Angela Lansbury

Jim Carrey is Mr Popper if you hadn't already guessed, in the movie he plays a businessman who as a youngster was ignored by his father. Growing up to be just like him he now ignores his own kids and estranged wife whilst making work his primary focus. One day he receives a gift from his father, six Penguins. With no idea why he has been sent them he attempts to get rid of them. That doesn't exactly go to plan when his ex shows up with the kids to celebrate his sons birthday, the kids are taken with the Penguins and you can guess the rest right?

Like I say this should provide you with some laughs this weekend, but at the heart of it this movie has a message. Just like in Liar Liar this movie is out to show us that family is the most important thing.

Midweek Mixtape: Rizzle Kicks, Foster The People, Noel Gallagher and Oasis

Thursday, 4 August 2011

Back with the new midweek music post now and I have made a decision on the Sunday one, remember it's supposed to be changing to Must Have Songs For Your iPod but in relation to specific artists, yeah. Well I'm not doing that now. Not because I don't want to it's just the X Factor starts in a couple of weeks and that will be reviewed every Sunday as Britain's Got Talent was earlier in the year. So for now you will get the midweek mixtape on a Thursday.

First in the mix this week is Rizzle Kicks a new hip hop duo who should really have been included last week, but the first time I listened to their song Down With The Trumpets I didn't really like it, seems to be that the radio stations like it though as it's all you hear on them at the minute and I guess it's one of those songs that grows on you. Take a look at the video below and let me know what you think. And oh yeah has any one got a clue how old they are, that's a picture of them on the left I think maybe about 12.

The next song is a one you would not normally find here, not because I don't like the music simply the fact that hip hop and R&B seems to be dominating the charts at the minute, that would echo really where this song currently sits mid 30's or so. It's by an American band named Foster The People and the song is named Pumped Up Kicks, I've been promising myself to get to YouTube and check out some of their other music so maybe you'll hear more. Let me know if you like it.

Since Oasis split up in 2009 Noel Gallagher has been the quieter of the two brothers whilst Liam sloped off with the rest of Oasis to form Beady Eye. Now though Noel is back with his High Flying Birds, made up with a melee of musicians from various bands. The first single to be taken from the album is The Death Of You And Me check it out in the video below and let me know what you think. My opinion, yeah it's good but I think Beady Eye just cut it for me.

Whilst I'm on the subject of the Gallagher brothers and there really isn't that much new music out this week, we might as well vist an old classic from Oasis glory days. This song is one of my favourites and probably one of the heaviest the guys done, it's called Morning Glory and the video is below enjoy.

Falling Skies Season 1 Episode 5 Silent Kill

Wednesday, 3 August 2011

The saga continued last night in what was not you usual all out action episode, don't get me wrong it had it's moments but concentrated more on the character stories, family values a couple of good laughs and some sad moments. There really isn't much more I can say on what was yet another solid installment of the show. I'm yet to hear people raving about this yet in the UK maybe that's because it air's on a Tuesday at 9pm. That means it normally goes head to head with Undercover Boss, a hughly popular show on Channel 4 and last night saw the return of DIY: SOS, another popular show that goes out at 9pm on BBC 1. Then for people to even record it and watch at 10pm it would be contending with Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares, that's my thought on it anyway.

For me though Kitchen Nightmares and the other shows can wait, well I actually watched the DIY one then put this on at 10pm but watching the DIY show was my other halfs idea. That probably means I will be spending some money soon, right?

Anyway I'm talking way to much about everything else here and not enough about Falling Skies, like I say a solid episode which saw an elaborate plan put together in order to save the harnessed children from the Skitter which is holding them captive at the hospital. The plan originally included making to much noise and was changed to Hal going in there alone in an attempt not to wake the skitter. That was the laugh on the night and pretty much the first one this show has provided, it probably wasn't even meant to be funny it's just the first time I've heard Commander Weaver say anything like that.

The conversation rolled to the point that Hal would be going into the hospital alone in order to take out the six children who were there, he had to do this without waking the skitter, his idea was to wear the harness removed from one of the other kids and pretend to be under the skitters control, his father Tom said "That's Crazy" and Commander Weavers reply was "Were fighting aliens from outer space here, I'm not sure what's crazy anymore", like I say it's probably not even meant to be funny it's just the way he said it.

We learnt even more about the skitters here, although they control the minds of the children through the harnesses they place on them. At night times they also treat them like children, taking them to bed and tucking them in I suppose you could say. Stroking their heads to try and get them to sleep. That was quite a good moment last night when Hal first joined the other kids you initally think the skitter has worked out he shouldn't be there but he hadn't and although he woke the skitter up he did manage to get the kids out the school and back to safety where the Dr removed all of their harnesses and saving 5 of their lives.

Dr Anne is now going to see all of the medical issues come her way, as the skitter who was being held as a prisoner of war killed Dr Harris, he won't be greatly missed as a character I wouldn't think, he's cocky and I didn't really like him anyway. He has after all only been in the show for two episodes.

We also learnt a little more this week about that hard ass mutha Commander Weaver, he is human after all and is able to show emotion, when he hears a certain song he switches it off before getting himself upset you then see him looking a what looks like a childs drawing with the name Sophia written on it, his daughter possibly? Also we found out that Dr Anne has a son who is missing and as yet has not been seen in any of the groups of children.

The episode focused mainly on the rescue of the kids and it was the most succsesful mission of the 2nd Mass so far, all the kids back and harnesses removed. One thing I found a little strange tough, was the fact the kid who had the harness removed last week has only been able to communicate and know who people are during this episode. Tom's son Ben had his harness removed and no sooner was it off he was talking and knew who people where, any thoughts? So it ws a good episode but next week I hope we get back to more of the action that we are used to.

Sirens Series 1 Episode 6 - Cry

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

So the best comedy show on TV has come to an end, that's right last night was the final episode of our weekly dose of Stuart, Rachid and Ashley in Sirens. All we can hope now is that it rides on it's obvious success and we get a second series. For all the readers who come here for the music and reviews from the show then make sure today is the day you click on the RSS button on the top right, follow me on twitter or like the site on Facebook, that way you won't miss any news about a second series and you never know you may well enjoy the rest of the postings here. On with the show now.

Stuart is a superhero. that's why this show is so good! He's not really that's just the way they introduced the show last night whilst little Stuart was stuck to the garage door courtesy of a crossbow arrow, I also thought as this is my most read posting I could plug the superhero poll that's running here this week, it's over on the right be sure to leave your vote.

Good to see that the laughs were back this week, there weren't to many the week before. The scene in the bar first off with Ashley and Rachid. Rachid's ethos is you should make a rule on making love after any type of news, good news, bad news, bank holidays. Not pancake day though it's the lemons.

The name of this episode was "Cry" that was to do with Stuart being able to grieve for his father, in order to help him achieve this he decided to pop around to see his step mother where he was introduced to a brother that he didn't know about. His step mother Yvonne says just look around the house there are signs of your dad everywhere, he looks straight over at the side board to see a novelty mug sporting a pair of breasts, if you didn't find it funny I would be very surprised.

Rachid had a really big part to play this week and as usual the guy was hilarious, he was partnered up with fat Karl for most of the episode. Karl has toilet troubles so while he was waiting Rachid was sitting watching the girls go by, whilst grading their bums on a scale of 1 to 10, very funny and something that most guys would probably do. Just after that fat Karl returns from the toilet to be asked "nice ____" you can guess the word right? It just reminded me of that scene in Borat where he is at the Americans house for lunch.

Stuart was also supposed to be attending his fathers funeral in the episode, he decided against it at first going to work and responding to an emergency call of an unresponsive 4 year old male, they get their pretty quick as you would expect an ambulance to, only to find an old guy has rang the ambulance service and the 4 year old male he is referring to is his pet budgie, currently in it's cage doing the backstroke. This gave Stuart the opportunity to watch a video his father had kept of him when he was younger prompting hime to go to the funeral. Only to be pipped by 10 minutes and not make it at all.

I'm really going to miss Sirens it's one of the most original and well put together comedies I have seen lately, right up my street really, a mix of everything and just the fix you need for your Monday night relax after your first day back at work. I just hope like I said above that Channel 4 decide this is worthy of a second series. I'm sure Brian Kellett has got plenty more stories on his blog that Stu, Ash and Rachid could make extremely funny.

Now as always you want to know what the music was used in this weeks episode, and guess what? This week I can't find it Brian Kellett has not even published it to his page, so lets all just remember that great intro music from Little Barrie it's called Surf Hell and the vide is below.

Movie Review: IRON MAN Starring Robert Downey Jr

Monday, 1 August 2011

It was one of those Saturday nights at the weekend where you really can't be bothered to do anything, not even move from the sofa in order to switch on your DVD player. That's very lazy I know but I checked out the film schedule on TV for the night and noticed Iron Man was on, decision made I hadn't seen it before and thought I might as well give it a go.

Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Terence Howard and Jeff Bridges

The Plot

Tom Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is the ultimate playboy, taking over the family business Stark Industries from his father he is a engineering and mathematical genius. A new weapon he has devised sees him on a trip to Afghanistan in order to demonstrate it to the US Army, things go wrong and Stark is captured by terrorists who want him to build them a missile in exchange for his life. Whilst there he gets an insight into the legacy his company have created with their weapons falling into the wrong hands. Rather than build a missile he decides he will build an armoured suit in order to escape his captors and return to America where he announces the company will cease to make weapons and concentrates on building another suit only to find his business partner Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) has been selling weapons to the insurgents and now wants a piece of the suit action for himself.

The Verdict

Where do I start really, I thought this movie was great and now I find myself really looking forward to seeing the second movie in the franchise. For me this is a better superhero franchise than Spider-Man, although I will give you that Gwyneth Paltrow who plays Pepper Potts is not quite as hot as Kirsten Dunst but that's besides the point. From start to finish this movie has you, plenty of action and plenty of laughter.

This is all helped along of course by the supreme casting of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark or Iron Man, you believe every bit that he is in fact that good at mathematics and could probably solve any problem in front of him. Finding his playboy lifestyle thrown into disarray by his capture still doesn't dampen his spirits though and when requested to build a missile for them he and his cell mate Yinsen (Shaun Toub) decide upon an armoured suit, ok that bit is a little far fetched. The fact he could design and build an armoured suit that big in an Afghanistan cave and the fact that they never even noticed he was doing it but, without that side of the story then there would be no need for Tony Stark to have ever changed his lifestyle. And the fact he can fly all the way to Afghanistan from America in a suit may be a bit over the top but, who cares?

Downey Jr's comic timing is also second to none as you would expect, I think the first movie I noticed he was so funny was Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (a great movie if you haven't seen it) and he doesn't let you down in Iron Man either, I'm no fan of comic books I don't think I 've ever read one but this movie spin off may be the best one I have seen. The story itself is predictable, from the moment we meet Pepper Potts is obvious what's going to happen, from the minute you meet Obadiah Stane you know what is going to happen and being a superhero movie, the minute Stark puts on the suit you know there is only going to be one outcome. If you have not seen this movie then if definitely gets my approval I would say go see it.

Would I watch it again?

Absolutely without a doubt, I will watch this movie again, it's the perfect Saturday night no brainier that provides you with plenty of entertainment.

Rating: MMMM

Now as I do with movie reviews, I provide you with the details of the movie soundtrack and the video of my favourite song of the movie, so here goes. The and the best song in the movie has to be AC/DC's Back In Black, enjoy the video below.
