2013 Movie Previews: IRON MAN 3, WOLVERINE, FAST AND THE FURIOUS 6, ROBOCOP and THE LONE RANGER

I feel like I should apologise first off this morning, I've been away for about a week the reasons were mainly that I've been away at the weekend on a stag party so I was way to drunk to do anything here, second to that I really seem to have ran out of enthusiasm for the site recently. I'm sure at some point we all go through this, and to be honest that lack of enthusiasm right now is backed up a little by the fact that there is nothing on TV. Yesterday I was on YouTube and ran past this clip for some big movies that will be coming our way next year, remember the lists we done at the beginning of this year? 2012's most anticipated movies part 1 and 2, yeah? Well I'm sure the movies mentioned here will be on a similar list.

Take a look at the video below for a little sneak peak into Iron Man 3, Fast and the Furious 6, Wolverine, Star Trek 2, The Lone Ranger, Man of Steel, World War Z, Wolverine, The 300 Sequel, R.I.P.D and Robocop.

Iron Man 3

Robert Doweny Jr will be back to play Iron Man as we expected, British actor Ben Kingsley is expected to star as a villain whilst comic book fans of the franchise will also be excited at the prospect of Cyborg and Firepower being involved in the movie.

The Fast and the Furious 6

Really? I think they should have left this alone after the second attempt of 2 Fast 2 Furious, but that's just my opinion of course, the Fast and Furious franchise has been hugely succsesful box office wise with the latest Fast Five starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson taking a massive $626m worldwide. Johnson will be reprising his role in the latest movie alongside Vin Disel and Paul Walker, just confirmed is Michelle Rodriguez and it's rumourned that star of Battleship and pop sensation Rhianna will also be in the movie.

Star Trek 2

I'm no Trekky fan, never have been, I've never seen the latest movie nor do I intend watching it but I'm sure someone will be excited about it's release. J.J. Abrams will be producing again and we know that British actor and star of BBC's worldwide hit Sherlock Benedict Cumberbatch will star along with 80's actor Peter Weller who played Robocop and also starred in Dexter's fifth season.

The Lone Ranger

This movie seems to have been coming for a while now, probably due to all the hype surroinding it's star man Johnny Depp who will play Tonto, also starring will be star Armie Hammer who will play the man in the mask The Lone Ranger.

Man of Steel

Don't now a great deal about this one but Henry Cavill will star as Clark Kent aka Superman and will once again be fighting against his arch enemy General Zod played by Michael Shannon. Man of Steel will also star Amy Adams as Louis Lane, Kevin Costner and Russel Crowe.

World War Z

Brad Pitt's movie is another one which seems to have been in the making a while now, again I don't really know to much about it but earlier in the year I posted a funny story about the set of the movie being raided by police.

Wolverine

The most famous of the X-MEN Hugh Jackman is back in his starring role as Wolverine, the movie is the direct follow up to 2009's X-MEN Origins: Wolverine which I reviewed HERE.

300: Battle of Artemisia

Gerard Butler his role in the Sparta army, I've never seen the original movie but will hopefully get round to it before this release.

Robocop

We mentioned 80's Robocop Peter Weller above and we've know for a while now that there would be a remake to the hit 80's franchise. Again, I don't know much on the movie but Robocop will star Joel Kinnamin from AMC's The Killing in the leading role and Gary Oldman will star as the scientist who turns him into the cyborg cop.

Movie Trailer: SKYFALL Bond is Back in Spectacular Fashion

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was when the Email dropped into my inbox with the official first teaser trailer for the 23rd Bond movie which we found out a while back was named Skyfall, the trailer comes days after Daniel Craig the best Bond ever has signed on to do a 4th movie in the franchise which is scheduled for release maybe next year or after. The latest movie has had the Directional reins handed over to Oscar winner Sam Mendes and the following trailer is absolutely stunning, so much so that if I had the option to pre-book my cinema ticket now you can be rest assured that’s what I’d do.

That was good right? At only one minute and twenty five seconds I don’t remember a trailer which gripped me that much. It would seem as if Daniel Craig’s bad ass bond is going to be back to the very best that we saw in Casino Royale, some said they were disappointed with Craig’s second instalment Quantum of Solace but I thought that was
every bit as good as his first. Skyfall also stars Javier Bardem, Ralph Finnes, Berenice Marlhoe, Ben Wishaw and of course Judi Dench.

On this outing Bond has his loyalty to M tested when her past comes back to haunt her, with MI6 under attack Bond doesn’t know who to trust and goes all out to save the day. Skyfall is due for release November this year and I can’t wait.

THE EXPENDABLES 2 Starring Just About Everyone From 80's Action Movies

Out of all the movies that will be released this year, The Expendables 2 is the one which I’m probably most looking forward to. For me, the first movie was a whole lot of fun, nothing to serious just some good old 80’s action to eat popcorn and drink beer to, this one promises to be no different with even more 80’s action stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger (briefly in the first movie), Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris. The Expendables 2 is due in UK cinemas on 17th August 2012 and I for one can’t wait.

All of the cast from the original are back including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Coture, Terry Crews and Bruce Willis. Added in for this adventure is a more feature length appearance for Arnie as I mentioned above, Van Damme is the bad guy, Chuck Norris is pulled from the set of Walker Texas Ranger to join The Expendables, Liam Hemsworth (The Avengers/Thor), Scott Adkins (a martial arts expert in just about every Van Damme straight to DVD movie these days) and finally there is a guest appearance from non other than Tennis player Novak Djockovic, quite why I don’t really know.

Check out Ahnuld's cheesy lines "I'm Back" and also his scene with Bruce Willis which looks very tongue in cheek when he rips the door off a Smart Car and tell Willis that his shoes are bigger than the car. This probably all goes in line with the surprising move to make The Expendables 2 a PG-13 movie, I think the English release will probably be rated 12, personally I think they should have just gone all out and got a 15 rating (that's R-Rated in America) at least but it will be refreshing to see a movie without an enormous amount of swear words. Mr Church, the grumpy Bruce Willis assembles The Expendables (they aren’t superhero’s Bruce!) for what should be a quick mission and a very easy paycheck, however things go wrong and one of Van Damme’s cronies kills one of their team. The Expendables then go on a revenge mission and find themselves in enemy territory against an unexpected
threat.

Like the first movie The Expendables 2 really is one for the guys, with a $100m budget you can expect lots of shit to get blown up, loads of bullets will be wasted and some serious ass will be kicked.

New UK Cinema Releases: 4th May 2012, AMERICAN REUNION, THE LUCKY ONE, SAFE and SILENT HOUSE

It's a pretty decent week down at your local cinema and as always Movies Music & Television is here to give you the low down on what's worth your time going to see. Last week saw the release of Avengers Assemble and although this week is good, it's going to take something pretty special in order to take the top spot away from what will surely be one of the highest grossing movies of all time. So, take a look below as a bunch of American teenagers reunite, a couple are in a love story, Jason Statham kicks ass and Elisabeth Olsen is scared sh*tless in some creepy house.

I'll start as always with the weeks top release, in all honesty it could have been one of three but in a throw back to my teens I'm going with American Reunion starring Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Sean William Scott, Chris Klein and Tara Reid.

Cast your mind way back to 1999 when four geeky high school kids were on a mission to loose their virginity, now they are back in their home town of East Green Falls, Michigan for the weekend and their about to learn what each other have been up to in the last decade. Thing is, now there is a new girl in town named Kara who is a mighty cute high school senior looking to give away her flower.

No doubt this will be hilarious and it's great to see the original cast back together, the American Pie movies have spawned a mass of straight to DVD sequels non of which were really any good. Personally, I think they should have left it at the American Wedding otherwise known as American Pie 3, but I'll definitely be giving this one a go.

A romantic drama to mention now named The Lucky One starring Zac Effron, Taylor Schilling, Blyth Danner and Riley Thomas Stewart.

Don't really know a lot about this one, but basically it's the story of a Marine (Zac Effron) who has served for his country in Iraq, he returns to America and travels to Louisiana where he searches for a girl who he believes was his good luck charm whilst he was away serving in the forces.

Not really interested in this one at all, it's a slushy chick flick which I'm sure my wife will love. For me, well its a little to girly and to think that Zac Effron has been in the Marines is just a little to unbelievable for me.

Kick ass time now and it's a movie which I gave you the trailer for months ago now, Safe starring Jason Statham, Catherine Chan, Chris Sarandon and Robert John Burke.

Jason Statham plays Luke Wright a former elite agent who becomes involved in a situation which is not really of his own doing (always seems to happen to Statham!), what results is a Chinese girl who is abducted by the Triads before Statham rescues her. From there he must keep her "safe" as she knows the code to a very important safe, something like that anyway.

I love Jason Statham movies, for me they are just great popcorn flick and this will be no different. He always plays a former elite agent, but he always kicks ass so for that reason Safe gets my vote.

Last one to mention now it's Silent House starring Elizabeth Olsen, Adam Trese and Eric Sheffer Stevens, really it's just Olsen.

In what looks like a psychological horror Elisabeth Olsen plays a young girl who goes to her family lakeside retreat with her father, from that point things quickly spiral out of control and she finds herself unable to get out the house or contact the outside world, creepy right?

Yeah well you know me by now, I'm a total wuss when it comes to stuff like this so I will be avoiding whichever movie screen is showing this, but not to worry there is still plenty others to choose from, and I haven't seen Avengers Assemble yet.

New UK Cinema Releases: 27th April 2012, AVENGERS ASSEMBLE and STRIPPERS vs WEREWOLVES

Well, it’s Friday and as always I’m here with all the latest UK cinema releases. It would seem that many movie companies have simply not bothered this week and with very good reason too. Today sees the UK release of Avengers Assemble better known as the Avengers, it's had to change its name here in the UK due to the original Avengers movie
being released here some time ago, or at least that’s what I think Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) told Graham Norton last Friday night.

As you’ve probably guessed from those first few lines the first movie and only one I’ll be covering in any detail this week is The Avengers, I’m going to call it that because in all honesty I think Avengers Assemble sounds terrible, nothing like a movie title, more like something Sam L, leader of S.H.I.E.L.D will be shouting during the movie. Anyway The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L Jackson and Gwenyth Paltrow, an impressive list I’m sure you’ll agree.

S.H.I.E.L.D is the worlds leading peace keeping agency lead by director Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), his only super power that I know of is that he’s so mother f**king cool. Any how World peace is about to be interrupted by some dude named Loki (Tom Hiddilston) and Nick Fury is forced to “Assemble” a group of superhero’s including Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow and The Hulk in order to help keep the peace, check out the trailer and let me know what you think and indeed if you already have your movie ticket ordered.

You know me I’m no fan of comic books, can’t say I’ve ever read one. I only figured out who S.H.I.E.L.D were when I watched Iron Man 2, I’ve never seen Captain America, don’t know who either Hawkeye or BlackWidow (other than seeing Scarlett in Leather for Iron Man 2) are, and I’ve only seen the Lou Ferrigno and Eric Bana versions of the Hulk. Let’s just leave it with I’m not authority on anything to do with Marvel comics but I do want to see what all the fuss is about and watch this movie.

Now, as I explained above not really much else out this week and let’s face it you only came here to read my witty humour and check out The Avengers trailer, right? So, in order to release a movie the same week as that one above you better come up with a good name that captures peoples imaginations, some options (also released this week) Damsels in Distress, Albert Nobbs and The Monk, they don’t quite cut it do they? So they came up with Strippers vs Werewolves. Now, as you’d imagine I’m a guy so naturally I’m going to click on anything that says strippers, especially if the word “male” doesn’t come before it. In this case clicking will be as far as I go, I can’t even be bothered to give you the synopsis of this crappy cheap as shit movie. So, instead just watch the trailer have a laugh and then go back to the top and watch how people go about making a proper movie.

New UK Cinema Releases: 20th April 2012, SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN, LOCKOUT and GONE

Plenty going on down your local cinema this weekend and as always here at Movies Music & Television I'm here to tell you what will be worth your time checking out. Let's see, Ewan McGregor is off doing some fishing in a desert, some "guy" is going to a space prison and finally Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter stars as someones sister who has gone missing (I think).

My top pick of the week goes to Lockout starring Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace, Peter Stormare and no one else you'll of heard of.

Guy Pearce plays Snow, a man who is wrongly convicted of espionage in the US (probably his English accent), Snow is offered a chance to make a men's for the crime by travelling to a space prison where violent in-mates have taken control. In order to get off with the charge Snow must rescue the President's daughter Emilie (Maggie Grace, Taken).

Lockout looks like a really good actioner and I have to say they have spent plenty money promoting it via trailers on TV, I don't think you can go wrong with two action packed popcorn eating hours.

Next on the list this week is Salmon Fishing in the Yemen starring Ewan McGregor, Amr Waked, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Tomas

From what I can make of it Ewan McGregor is a British fisheries expert who is called upon by a wealthy Sheik from Yemen, the Sheik wants to bring his favourite past time of Salmon fishing to his country believing it's a way to enrich the lives of his people. Problem is he lives in a desert and needs the help of McGregor to make his dream a reality.

On face value I really didn't think I would have a decent word to say about Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, but I saw Ewan McGregor interviewed on Graham Norton last week and the way he put the movie over really doesn't seem to bad, on saying that I don't think I will be in the cinema cue for a ticket come Saturday night, I mean do you know how much cinema tickets are these days!

Last one this week is Gone starring Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Carpenter, Wes Bentley and Daniel Sunjata

Not to many details on this but basically it follows Jill (Seyfried) a girl who's sister is kidnapped opening up unnerving memories for her, as two years before she herself was kidnapped and now she believes that the serial killer that took her has came back for her sister.

I actually thought that Gone was released here in the UK about a month or so ago and maybe it featured in this post back then, however that may have been a preview screening or something, again there has been plenty money spent on promotion but I don't think I'll be in the cue.

Lockout definitely wins the week for me, although I am a bigger fan of Ewan McGregor than I am of Guy Pearce, but that's by the by. If (and it's a big IF) I want to watch a fishing show I'll put Robson Greens Extreme Fishing (the best one) on TV.

New UK Cinema Releases: 13th April 2012, BATTLESHIP, THE CABIN IN THE WOODS and BLACKTHORN

I have to tell you straight off this is not the best week ever for movies, probably more like one of the worst in fact, but as always here at Movies Music & Television I’ll take you through what may be worth your time this weekend. You have a new super scary (I think)
horror, Independence Day on a boat and Butch Cassidy is back fresh out the 60’s.

I’ll start with my pick of the week as always, its Battleship starring Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch and popstar Rhianna

Battleship is based on Hasbro comic book novel Combat Game, and follows an international fleet of ships who are on a Naval war games exercise. Whilst there they encounter an alien force known as “The Regent” and a air and sea battle ensues.

I don’t know anything about the books or Hasbro comics but when I was younger we had a video game named Battleships where you used to have put coordinates in and try to blow your opponent (the computer) out the water, however I don’t think it’s the same thing. In all honesty if I see any of the movies released this week Battleship will probably be it, check out the trailer below.

Next on this week’s list is Blackthorn starring Sam Shepard, Eduardo Noriega and Stephen Rea

Blackthorn is set in Bolivia and follows legendary cowboy Butch Cassidy (Sam Shepard) who now calls himself James Blackthorn. Butch or James (whatever you want to call him) is making one last attempt to get home, a journey which sees him team up with a young robber, and the pair become a target for gangs and cops, or lawmen as they were
known then.

I have no interest in Westerns at all, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid released in 1969 is a movie I’ve never seen, nor do I intend watching. If Butch was around then what’s he doing in Bolivia?

Last one to mention this week is The Cabin in The Woods starring Kristen Connelly, Chris Hemswroth and Anna Hutchinson

It’s the latest teenage type horror thing that you’ll all love, a bunch of people go to stay in a creepy cabin which is in the middle of nowhere, well apart from the woods obviously, when there they get more than they bargain for and must try and figure out the truth behind The Cabin in The Woods.

Horror is not a genre that I’m a fan of and from what I’ve seen of this movie up to now it seems a lot like Cabin Fever, a movie I watched expecting to get a scare. All I got was bored.

New UK Cinema Releases: 6th April 2012 Good Friday, THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY, HEADHUNTERS, MIRROR MIRROR and TITANIC 3D

It's not the best week ever for cinema releases but I think there are a couple of new thrillers in this weeks mix which haven't been that heavily promoted, meaning they probably shouldn't go un-missed. As always I'm here to give you the run down of what may be worth your time at the cinema this week.

My top pick has to go to The Cold Light Of Day, the movie comes with a pretty decent cast including Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, it seems like a decent action thriller.

Cavill plays Will Shaw, a Wall Street trader who has flown to Spain for a sailing holiday with his parents Martin (Willis) and Laurie (Caroline Goodall). Will goes for a quick dip and returns to the boat to find his parents have been kidnapped, quickly Will is confronted by the people responsible and learns more than he knows about his father and what his parents captors are after.

This is the kind of movie I like best so I am probably being a little in favour, but it does look like a pretty good popcorn flick.

Next up this week is Headhunters which stars Aksel Hennie, Synnove Macody Lund and Nikolaj Coster-Waldu, don't worry I haven't heard of any of those people either.

Headhunters is a Norweigan movie about a high powered executive head hunter who has a bit of a dark side, kind of like Dexter this guy moonlights from his day job and by night becomes an accomplished multi million pound art thief.

The trailer looks decent enough, lots of action, but I'm put off with all the subtitles. I say this looks good but I'll probably never get round to watching it. It does seem like a pretty good crime thriller.

Last of the new releases is Mirror Mirror: The Untold Adventures of Snow White starring Julia Roberts, Lilly Collins, Armie Hammer and Sean Bean.

It's a story of Princess' and Prince' and I really have no interest at all, it's for kids of course and it supposedly a magical fairy-tale. Basically Snow White is banished from her Kingdom when an evil Queen takes over, she enlists the help of 7 Prince' to help her win back her birthright.

Last but not least is the re-release of James Cameron's epic Titanic, the movie was released in UK cinemas January 1998, now it's back and pimped out in 3D for our viewing pleasure. Personally I saw it back then and have seen it many times since, as good as it is I won't be spending £12 - £15 on a cinema ticket to watch it in 3D.

Red Band Movie Trailer: TED Starring Mark Wahlberg and Seth Mcfarlane

Ok, so from the top I can't believe I'm about to post a movie trailer about a teddy bear that can talk to it's 35 year old owner, even more so when that 35 year old owner is Mark Wahlberg. I take that guy pretty seriously as an actor, more kick ass than method admittedly but this is a whole other direction from the hard as nails Marky Mark. I caught the trailer thanks to Slashfilm and the reason I'm posting it here is due to the fact I laughed so hard, I know it's childish and in all seriousness the movie probably won't be all that good but, honestly, you have to check out this red band trailer for Ted.

I think you pretty much get the gist of what the movie is about from that right? If not, then it stars Mark Wahlberg as John, a guy who made a wish when he was a kid that his teddy bear would come to life. John gets his wish and ends up with an extremely offensive and foul mouthed bear in the shape of Seth Mcfarlane. Normally, that wouldn't cause to many problems but when your trying to bed Lori (Mila Kunis) then you have to man up a bit, never mind all the fun, swearing and drugs your doing with your teddy bear.

Ted is a Seth Mcfarlane movie as you can probably guess from the trailer, Seth is the man responsible for bringing us Family Guy, a show which personally I hate. Honestly I really don't find it funny at all, I imagine I would probably take this movie the same but that teddy throwing out some moves on the shopping till and then posing for photo's with the ladies tickled me enough to do this.

New UK Cinema Releases: 30th March 2012, WRATH OF THE TITANS, STREETDANCE 2 and GONE

First off I will apologise in advance, this won't be the longest post ever. It's very hot here in North East England for a change so I'm planning on sitting in my garden, having a couple of beers whilst I try to build a swing, I know, how rock and roll am I? Anyway, never mind lets crack on as we say up here and let me tell you what's in the cinema this weekend.

First it's the weeks top release Wrath of the Titans starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Rosamund Pike

Perseus braves the world in order to save his father Zeus from Ares and Hades, as well as having his father Ares and Hades have released ancient Titans upon the world

It's a follow up to Clash of the Titans which I didn't see, I don't really have any interest so I don't think I will be watching this one either.

Next up it's StreetDance 2 starring George Sampson, Tom Conti and Falk Hentschel

It's another one I'm not crazy about, this is the follow up to StreetDance and follows straight on where the dancers are still living the embarrassment handed to them by the crew Invincible. StreetDance 2 shows the rematch between the two.

Sounds great right? Yeah I know it sounds terrible and I can say I definitely won't be watching it. The star of the movie George Sampson won Britain's Got Talent a couple of years back.

Last one to mention now, Gone starring Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Carpenter and Wes Bentley

The movie follows two sisters, when one of them disappears the other thinks that a serial killer who kidnapped her two years earlier has returned. She sets out once again to face her abductor.

Gone has been trashed by critics, saying "Gone" from theatres and straight to DVD. That really doesn't speak volumes, it seems Jennifer Carpenter just can't keep herself away from this sort of role.

New UK Cinema Releases: 23rd March 2012, THE HUNGER GAMES and ACT OF VALOR

I’m back as always giving you the low down on what may and may not be worth your time going to the cinema over this weekend, and I’m afraid that once again I don’t really have a lot to report on new UK movie releases, it’s not a strong week at all. You are lucky in one sense that this weeks top movie currently sits at number 1 in IMDB rankings, and the other is a real story and stars real people rather than actors pretending to be people.

I’ll start as always with this week’s biggest release The Hunger Games is considered by many to be one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Given all the hype I really haven’t heard too much on it, so let’s see what light I can shed in my summary below.

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, The Hunger Games is a new action / sci-fi / drama based in the not-to-distant future. North America has collapsed and the country is now split into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year two young representatives are selected from the lottery to take place in the televised Hunger Games. The 24 competitors are then pitted against each other in a fight to the death with the whole nation forced to watch on TV.

Like I said above it’s not something I have seen a lot about, and I’m yet to decide weather it’s done enough to get my interest. It’s one of those where I’ll probably wait to hear a few opinions before giving it any further consideration. Check out the trailer for The Hunger Games and let me know what you think.

Now to that movie with real people that I was telling you about up top, Act of Valor is the name and it’s another that I haven’t heard a great deal about but I do think it’s more promising than The Hunger Games.

Starring: Alexander Asefa, Jeffrey Barnachea and Kenny Calderon, Act of Valor is a new action /adventure / thriller movie which stars actual serving U.S Navy SEALs and is inspired by true events. The SEALs are sent on a rescue mission to recover a CIA agent however, whilst there they discover a plot against the U.S. The team are then sent on a worldwide manhunt as they race to stop a coordinated attack.

Like I said not to many details but I do think this will be a movie worth going to see, if it’s realism that your after then Act of Valor may just have what your looking for. The Act of Valor trailer is here for you to check out.

Not much on this week right? Other than the two I mentioned above there is a French (I think) movie out, that’s about some kid on a bike and this week’s other release sees some guy named Bill released from prison to discover his kids have been abandoned by their mother.

Movie Trailer: PROMETHEUS Starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender

Remember this? Prometheus? Yeah, it featured on the blog a while back, just after the new year in fact when we done the two lists of 2012's most anticipated movies. Thing is, for me this was originally billed as a prequel to 1979's Alien, a movie which I haven't seen (don't worry I have the Blu-ray on order). I can't say that I'm usually the biggest fan of this type of movie, but since starting this blog I certainly appreciate this type of thing a lot more and Prometheus definitely floats around the top of my list for movies to see this year.

It's not an Alien prequel. The original script was however, that has been re-written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and Prometheus now has it's own stand alone story, that will no doubt link in with some of the mystery's that are yet unanswered from the Alien series. Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba star in the Ridley scott epic which sees them aboard the spaceship Prometheus after a star map is found, the crew of Prometheus are sent on a scientific mission to try and discover the origins of mankind. New UK Cinema Releases: 16th March 2012, CONTRABAND, 21 JUMP STREET and WE BOUGHT A ZOO

It's a pretty good week at the cinema if your out and about over the weekend. There is a new action thriller which looks really cool, a new kick ass comedy, something about a Zoo and a new horror movie which I won't mention here because to be quite honest the trailer scares the s**t out of me. So, I'll stop rambling on and tell you what's new at the cinema this week.

First up it's Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg, Giovanni Ribisi, Kate Beckinsale and Ben Foster.

Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) is a legendary smuggler who left the life of crime along time ago in order to be with and protect his family. Farraday's brother-in-law Andy (Caleb Landry-Jones) is still in the game and botches a drug deal for ruthless drug boss Tim Briggs (Ribisi), before long Farraday finds himself back in the life he left behind in order to save Andy's life. He quickly gets together a crew with friend Sebastien (Foster) and they head to Panama where they will be smuggling back millions in counterfeit bills. Unfortunately things don't go to plan and Farraday races to the money in order to save the thing he loves the most, his family.

I posted the trailer for Contraband a few months back now, miss it? Don't worry I got the updated one here for you now. I have heard mixed reports on the movie but I think Wahlberg kicks ass so you can be sure I'll be seeing and reviewing this one.

Now one I won't see, We Bought A Zoo starring Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Thomas Haden Church and Elle Fanning

Matt Damon plays Benjamin Mee a man who moves to the countryside of South Corolina along with his family. Benjamin moves his family into an old Zoo which is struggling to survive and together they help run it.

I think this is one of those, hey I got kids now type of movies, you know when Matt appears on a chat show and tells us his kids can't watch The Bourne movies? Yeah those ones. I don't think I will be watching this one.

Last one to mention, 21 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tautum, Ice Cube and Brie Larson

Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tautum) are cops who make a massive botch meaning their boss wants them off the streets, luckily for said boss Schmidt and Jenko look about 15 years old so he sends them to work undercover in a high school where they must work on bringing down a synthetic drug ring.

I don't think it will be any immense sort of story or anything but I have heard it's pretty funny, lets face it Jonah Hill usually is. R-Rated so expect some rudeness and lots of swearing, check out the red band trailer below.

New UK Cinema Releases: 9th March 2012, THE RAVEN, JOHN CARTER and BEL AMI

Can’t say I’m all that excited about what’s at the cinema this week, maybe they have just burnt themselves out in the last couple of weeks.  This week there is a new Disney epic adventure, a new thriller and one romantic drama which stars Twilight’s Robert
Pattinson.

My top release this week would have to go to The Raven starring John Cusack, Luke Evans, Alica Eve and Brendan Gleeson

I haven’t heard a great deal about this but it’s based on the life of poet Edgar Alan Poe, fictionalised of course it follows him on the last days of his life as he peruses a serial killer who's murders mirror those of his own stories.

Probably my pick of the week, although I do think it will be pretty intense and full on, I probably won’t get round to seeing it if I’m honest.

Next up it's the release I’m least excited about, don’t even think the wife will be watching Bel Ami starring Robert Pattinson, Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas

Not being interested in this movie at all there is not all that much I can tell you about it, I think it’s a period drama, in which Pattinson stars as Georges Duroy a young man who rises to power in Paris using nothing more than manipulation of women who have high standing in the city.

Sounds fascinating, right? Yeah like me you are giving this a wide birth to can’t say I blame you.

Last one to mention now John Carter starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton and Willem Defoe

This is the new Disney epic I mentioned at the top. It follows John Carter, of course, as he is transplanted to Mars. When on the plant he finds it to be a beautiful place however, Carter finds himself a prisoner of the 12-foot tall green barbarians which inhabit the planet before he make an escape where he meets Dejah Thoris Princess of Helium who is in need of saviour.

I’ve no doubt Disney will probably want to make this some sort of series of movies, it seems to me a bit like Avatar, a movie which I’m yet to see. John Carter would probably have been my top pick but I’m just not into this type of movie, enjoy the trailer.

Movie Trailer: DARK TIDE Starring Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez

I never heard anything about this movie until I logged onto IMDB the other day, at a quick glance I thought it may be ok, anything that features on their top bar is usually worth a look. Dark Tide Stars Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry, again not to bad, the likelihood is that Halle Berry will be wearing very little clothing for most of the movie, then you have the added excitement of a big ass Shark, I mean what more could you want?

Dark Tide follows the story of Kate (Halle Berry), a shark expert who has not been in the water since a fellow diver was killed by a shark attack. Her business is in tatters and the bank are about to foreclose on her boat, her ex boyfriend Jeff (Olivier Martinz) convinces her that the only way to save her business is take up a lucrative offer from a thrill-seeking millionaire business man on a open water shark dive. She battles against her doubts and fears before finally agreeing to take the guy into Shark Ally, the worlds deadliest feeding ground. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think.

New UK Cinema Releases: 2nd March 2012, THIS MEANS WAR, WANDERLUST and PROJECT X

Following last weeks impressive cinema releases I’m surprised that this week is again so good. So what we got for you? Well there is a couple of new romantic comedy’s both of which look pretty good and there is a new teenage comedy from the producer of The Hangover movies which looks pretty good fun and because this weeks releases are so
good I’ll show you the trailers for them all.

First off my top pick for the week, This Means War starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.

Tuck (Hardy) and Frank (Pine) are CIA agents both at the top of their game, returning from a mission gone wrong they are assigned to desk duty. Tuck decides that he’s lonely and loads his profile onto a dating website where it’s seen by Lauren (Witherspoon) who decides to go on a date with him, little does Tuck know that in the next few days she also bumps into and hits it off with Frank his best friend and colleague. The friends finally come to realise they are dating the same girl and at first agree to be admiral about it, but before long that plan goes out the window and they begin to sabotage each others dates.

Why is it my top pick? Well, considering the write ups I’ve seen so far it probably shouldn’t be but if you caught my Blu-ray review of Inception then you know I’m a big fan of Tom Hardy, that’s why it gets my top pick vote. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.

Next up it’s another romantic comedy for you, Wanderlust stars Jennifer Aniston, Pual Rudd, Malin Akerman and Justin Theroux

I have heard of this movie coming for a while but never really looked at anything about it, for that reason I really can’t tell you much. George (Rudd) and Linda (Aniston) are a couple who suddenly find themselves unemployed. They decide to go check out some alternative living options which sees them end up in a rural community where free love rules.

Now obviously I have seen at least the trailer for this movie and have to say it looks pretty funny. I will probably see it, not at the cinema but I’ll probably check it out on DVD take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think.

Last one to mention this week is Project X starring Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper, Jonathan Daniel Brown and Kirby Bliss Blanton.

There are no monkeys in this, forget Virgil and Matthew Broderick, although you could probably describe these guys as little monkeys, you know the type right? They have a party when their parents are away for the weekend, invite every one of their Facebook “friends” get totally pissed and end up trashing the house. Little Monkeys. Their aim with the party is to turn themselves into cool guys with the most popular girls in the school, won’t look so cool when they get grounded for a year and have to pay the first three years of their wages back to their parents for the damage caused to the house.

Joking aside this does look pretty funny and it’s brought to us by Todd Philips who Directed and produced The Hangover movies, think back to how much we all loved American Pie, if you liked movies like that then you’ll probably enjoy this, check out the trailer.
