Review: DEXTER 6.6 - Just Let Go

Is Gellar real?  Is he just part of Travis' imagination?  At the beginning of this episode I was left wondering, second guessing myself if you will.  Just as Dexter is tracking Travis through the market place Gellar is not there, the minute Dexter walks away hearing of Brother Sam, Gellar appears.  That kind of settled it for me, he's not real he's Travis' dark passenger.  Travis isn't all bad though, is he?

Last week saw him run over a couple, only to kidnap the wife or girlfriend.  He couldn't do it alone though and he had Gellar in his ear and on the pedal making sure he went through with the job.  The lady was the next victim for them in what would be a "Whore Of Babylon" tableau but, her pleads to Travis must have worked as he let her go.  I knew when he was at the school with to see his sister that he isn't really believing what Gellar is trying to put in his head.  Could we see a twist here Travis turning good, Dexter turning bad, we'll see.

This was another great episode in my opinion, I'm struggling to pick a favourite right now.  Everything worked this week, it was full of action, suspense and as always with Dexter a couple of little twists thrown in with some laughs.

Sadness first off though they killed off Brother Sam, why?  He has been the best character this season I have really enjoyed seeing Mos Def alongside Michael C. Hall, the scenes they were in together ranked up alongside Dexter and his father Harry, I'm sure the writers have good reason for doing it most importantly in this episode when Dexter was all but convinced to shed his dark passenger at the request of Brother Sam, only to be told by Nick the man who murdered him that he wouldn't get caught as nobody had anything on him.  So long Nick, you were such an integral part of the show that you weren't even treated to Dexter's table.  Like Dexter did with Walter Kenny (The Tooth Fairy) he chose an alternative way and drowned Nick in the ocean.

From the moment Dexter grabbed Nick you knew, In all the episodes I have seen I have never seen Dexter so full of rage.  Michael C. Hall really owned the screen at that moment growling almost.  Far from the cool calm and collected serial killer we usually see week in week out Dexter was raging like you've never seen before.  What angered Dexter most though?  For me it wasn't just the fact that Brother Sam his now friend had been murdered, it wasn't that Nick didn't care, it was more that Dexter blamed himself.  Julio Benes was the gang banger killed by Dexter in the second episode "Once Upon A Time", people on the street believed that Brother Sam was responsible for his disappearance.

Dexter was flirting with danger a little earlier in the episode when he went to the garage vigil for Brother Sam, there he asked Nick who was running the underground right now.  Nick gave up a name eventually and Dexter began to watch him but, had he gone and killed him then Nick would surely guess that it was Dexter.  Would that mean he would have to get rid of Nick (not a problem now), he's a serial killer yes but a serial killer with morals (all be it probably warped a little) and at that point Dexter didn't know Nick was guilty of murder.

It was nice to see Harry back for a little mentoring this week, just as Dexter seemed to be loosing control a little, the scene between them is probably one of the more tense ones they have enjoyed.  Dexter now has a new problem though.  Nick his brother, the Ice Truck killer is back, I don't know to much about him only joining up in season 5 but I'm guessing he is Dexter's brother and I gather Dexter only found that out during the Ice Truck killer investigation.  I would imagine this is pretty exciting stuff for people who have followed Dexter from season 1, especially giving that no one would have guessed.  I for one can't wait to see how this one pans out.

Looking forward to the rest of season 6?

I'm going to go off on a little theory now, Masuka's new intern seems to have developed a little fixation with Dexter "this guys a fucking rock star" Masuka replies "this is Miami Metro, were all fucking rock stars".  Anyway thought I would share, it was pretty funny.  This intern, who would like to bet that he's an undercover reporter possibly looking for dirt on Miami Metro or Dexter himself, he is clearly not interested in what Masuka is showing him and did reveal to Angel's sister that he has no interest in forensics and that he's a video game designer doing research, yeah right, he's a reporter.

Other than that this week, Debra is struggling to cope with the loneliness in her new job with Angel looking like the only one she can confide in (office romance possibly) and Quinn is in the thick stuff for sleeping with Carissa Porter, she was the girl in the photo and is now the key witness into the Doomsday killings.

A quick look over this and I think this was in fairness the best episode of the season so far, it has set up such a good premise especially with Dexter and Travis kind of role reversing.  I can't wait for next week.

New Music Single Releases: 7th November 2011, LOICK ESSIEN, CHRIS BROWN, TINCHY STRYDER and MAVERICK SABRE

Back as always with this week's new music releases for you, I have to be honest it's quite a good week with some big names for a change.  They must all be readying their albums for Christmas releases or something.  First up;

Chris Brown – 'She Ain't You' The man who is probably more famous for being the X boyfriend of mega star Rhianna, they split when he hit.  Most people would probably have not worked again for something like that but it seems to have sent this guys career sky rocketing.  I have to be honest his music is pretty good and very catchy but, hitting women!!! Come on man.

Cage The Elephant – 'Aberdeen' Formed back in 2006, Cage The Elephant are an American rock band from Kentucky.  This is the latest release from their second album "Thank You, Happy Birthday" which was released in January this year.  As far as this song goes, not my idea of fun but the video is pretty unusual.

Loick Essien – 'Me Without You' This guy is a British singer songwriter and this is the second single from his debut album which is due to be released in January 2012.  I actually like this song and this guy as an artist his first single "How We Roll" featured on must have songs for your iPod a while back now.The Wombats - '1996' Another British indie rock band for you now, again this music ain't my thing nor have I liked much this band have done in the past.  This song though is actually not bad I could listen to it in the car no problem.

Jessie J (top), JLS

Jessie J – 'Who You Are' Jessie is a British recording artist and songwriter, I'm not the biggest fan of her work but recently I saw her perform live (can't remember where) she was actually pretty amazing, this latest release is from her Boombox series.  That's a stereo in case you're wondering.

JLS – 'Take A Chance On Me' Previously named UFO, these guys finished runners up on the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008.  Since then their popularity has soared and pretty much anything they release goes to number 1.  I have to be honest I really like their music and they are genuinely talented guys, they thoroughly deserve the label of best boy band around right now.

Kele – 'The Hunter EP' Don't worry I hadn't heard of him either.  Does the band name Block Party mean anything to you?  If so then you've probably heard of him, he is their lead singer.  I'm not the biggest fan of Block Party and as far as this release goes I can't even find a video for it, says a lot I would think.

The Kooks – 'Junk Of The Heart' Some "proper" music for you now.  The Kooks are an English indie rock band, like I said last week I'm not the biggest indie fan nor am I to keen on the Kooks.  This latest single is taken from their new album of the same name, it's not my cup of tea, my favourite from these guys would be "Do You Wanna" from the album "Konk"

Manic Street Preachers – 'This Is The Day' Funnily enough I was just talking about these guys with a friend of mine at the weekend, I was telling him I got tickets to see Noel Gallagher next year and we decided to re-cap who we had seen.  Manic's were on his list, I have to be honest I'm not the biggest fan of the Welsh alternative rock back but this song really isn't to bad.

Maverick Sabre – 'I Need' An English vocalist and rapper from London, I really liked this guys fist release "Let Me Go", no doubt he is a talented guy and his voice is very unique but this latest release just ain't for me.



Pixie Lott (top), The Wombats

 Pixie Lott – 'What Do You Take Me For?' An English singer / songwriter who moonlights as a dancer and actress, to pretty good detail though.  Like sexy half naked women?  Yeah, yeah me too, this video will be right up your street.  It also features Pusha T an American rapper, it's good job you have the half naked ladies in my opinion otherwise I don't think you could bear 3 minutes or so of this.

Sunday Girl – 'Love You More' A new British pop singer who I haven't heard of, this single is taken from her debut album which is yet to be released or even finished for that matter.  The song is garbage so, maybe they won't bother finishing the album.  Refreshing though, she doesn't come from a reality show.

Tinchy Stryder – 'Off The Record' Real name Kwasi Danquah III, Tinchy is a little easier to remember.  He is a Ghanaian British rapper singer and songwriter who has taken the rap world by storm in recent years, this latest offering is actually very catching.  It has all the rap star video traits, nice cars hot girls, shades, and it's pretty cool.

Review: PERSON OF INTEREST 1.7 - Witness

I was struggling to find the TV preview for Person of Interest this week, thanks to Ruben I now know the reason why.  It's not on this week but, it will be back the week after.  Following this episode I'm not so sure I want it to take a break, this has to be the best episode yet with one almighty twist that I was nowhere near guessing.

It started in a small convenience store with a mob hit, quite why the guy who got shot SSN did not come up on Finch's radar I don't know but that set this episode up.  The hit was part of a war between the Russian and Italian Mafia's in New York.  The hit was witnessed by a school teacher named Burton who is seemingly an innocent party in all of this, for that reason his SSN is pumped out the computer.

The inept police officers need to find him and fast, knowing that the Russian's will be looking for him, luckily for said inept police officers Reese is already on the case and manages to get Burton out of his apartment before the Russians get to him.

The story all centered around a man named Elias, a man no one has ever met.  The dead store owners wife drops by the station and tells police that they will never catch the man who killed her husband but they shouldn't worry to much as Elias would track down the person responsible and kill him.

I really think the police department have a serious corruption problem, there have been two or three episodes now with corrupt police and in this episode it was identified straight away that Scarface (David Valcin) was a corrupt cop and for most of the episode I thought it would be revealed that he was Elias, that's certainly what they let you believe but, this being a J.J. Abrams show I should really have guessed that it wouldn't be that simple.

Ass kicking was also at the max this week, it was gritty and was probably the first episode that made you think with an interesting premise.  Cavizel is really starting to make the role his own, Michael Emmerson turns up week on week and the school teacher played a blinder, he kept it so cool and even had me believing he was completely innocent, I was quite surprised when it was revealed that he was actually Elias.

Did Reese kill anyone this week?  I don't remember.  I do remember that he shot a few people in the leg.  The police really need to be awarding him in some way, the amount of situations he pulls them out of is quite incredible.

The story this week left the door open to be followed on, a follow on which I don't think the shows producers will let lie.  I thought Reese may get his own back on Elias by the end of this episode, obviously he didn't so I'm kind of hoping that they may dip back into the story in some way.  Elias walked off into the sunset so to speak, the inept police still don't know who he is but Reese and Finch do, so here's hoping

Like I said the best episode yet, even better than Mission Creep, my previous favourite.  A week's break (what will I do?)  then back for some more action, I'm hoping the little break is so the rest of the season can be rolled out once it returns.  I can't wait and am now even hoping that this does go into a second season, that of course depends on ratings and weather J.J. Abrams has time.

Movie Review: BRIDE WARS (2009) Starring Kate Hudson

I've been looking to get rid of this movie review for a while now, I actually wrote it back in July.  This should have been the Person of Interest review but it wasn't quite finished so I promise you'll get that tomorrow along with Dexter and the music post, in the mean time read on about one of the worst movies I have ever seen. 

Just for the record I didn't want to watch this movie but, my wife was 39 weeks pregnant and I ain't going to argue with her.  I figured if I'm going to watch it then I might as well do a review on it, it was a Sunday night and TV here in England is pretty poor really other than Top Gear, so let's say their was noting else on the TV.

Starring: Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Candice Bergen, Bryan Greenberg and Chris Pratt.


The Plot

The title Bride Wars kind of gives this one away really, basically Liv (Hudson) and Emma (Hathaway) have been the best of friends since childhood, their ultimate dream is to get married at the Plaza Hotel, Manhattan be each others Bridesmaids and have the ultimate girly day with the weddings organised by Marion St Clair (Bergen).  Things are all going to plan when they get engaged but only two spots are left at Manhattans favourite venue.  Marion's receptionist ends up mixing up the details and the two are due to be married at the same time on the same day, hence Bride Wars.

The Verdict

Considering it was my wifes idea to watch this movie you would assume that she would kind of like it, especially as it's her type of movie, you know girly girly.  Well she didn't like it and rightly so this is one of the worst movies I have seen and I'm pretty sure that it's aimed at young teenagers as apposed to adults.

Emma got Tango'd, Liv got Smurfed

I think maybe I laughed once but can't even remember what at, that's how much of a lasting impression it made, in fact I watched this movie like three months ago and I'm only bothering reviewing it now tells you quite a lot.

Probably one of the best bits of the movie was the Hen party's, staged in the same club on the same night as all the girls friends refuse to take sides.  Anne Hathaway is not really at her most attractive during the whole of the move other than this scene when she gets a bit drunk and naughty, I really though it may be picking up here but, no I was wrong back to the bore.

The girls do of course end up making back up as you would know from just looking at the DVD cover.  Emma ends up being bridesmaid for Liv and que, happy ending.  One more thing I'm not the biggest Kate Hudson fan, looks wise but in this movie!!  Her mother would have looked more attractive.

Would I watch it again?

No way, my wife wouldn't even watch it again.

Weekly News: Bond 23 is SKYFALL, New JASON STATHAM Movie, OASIS Reunion?

So finally it’s official after months of speculation relating to the title of the new Bond movie, affectionately named Bond 23 up to Thursday when the movie’s producer Michael G Wilson finally confirmed the movie will indeed be named Skyfall.

Taking a step away from Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace the movie is working on a standalone script which Daniel Craig says is great.  We have known all along that Craig would be back for his third outing as bond and Judi Dench would play his boss.  We know now also that Javier Bardem will play the villain, French actress Berenice Marlohe will probably be the bond girl.  Naomie Harris has been confirmed to play a field agent and Ralph Finnes, Albert Finney and James Whishaw have all Ben confirmed.

The press conference also brought one more thing a little sneak at the synopsis.  Bond’s loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her, MI6 is under attack and Bond must destroy the threat no matter how much personal the cost.

The movie begins shooting next week November 7^th, shooting will take place in London , China, Turkey and Scotland.  The movie opens in the UK on October 26^th 2012 then onto North America November 9^th 2012.

Some news on a new Jason Statham movie for you now, Hummingbird is the name and its an action/drama which is due to start shooting early next year.  A quick plot summary, Statham will play an ex Special Forces soldier who becomes trapped in London’s criminal underworld, he gets a chance to escape the life when he assumes someone else’s identity.

This looks really good, right?  I mean Jason Statham has never played an Ex Special Forces soldier in any of his movies has he?  Oh wait there are these.  All the Transporter movies, The Killer Elite, The Mechanic and The Expendables.

Don’t take that as if I won’t like this new movie, I have seen all bar one of the above movies and they are all real kick ass action movies, yes Jason Statham plays it safe but as far as ass kicking in movies goes he tops the bill.

Celebrity tweets can be a little forth coming these day’s, can’t they.  Just the other week Beady Eye’s Liam Gallagher tweeted to say that Oasis would be re-forming in 2015 for the 20^th anniversary of their biggest album “What’s The Story (Morning Glory)”, he claimed that it was all his older brother Noel’s idea, sounds good to me.

That was until I saw Noel Gallagher on the Jonathan Ross show the other week, he stated that he had not said that at all and not being on Twitter he was unable to respond quick.  He did tell NME magazine that was the case also, that has brought Liam out fighting saying that once his older sibling realises that he’s not as good without him or indeed the rest of Oasis he would be back on board for the reunion tour.

Considering Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Album out sold Beady Eye’s debut Different Gear, Still speeding by over 200%, Liam can dream.  I’m off to see Noel and his High Flying Birds next year, so I’ll be letting you know what I think.

TV Previews: THE WALKING DEAD 2.4 - Cherokee Rose, DEXTER 6.6 - Just Let Go, TERRA NOVA 1.7 - Nightfall, HOMELAND 1.6 - The Good Soldier

I have to apologize, I can't find a preview for this weeks Person of Interest don't know why.  If you like the show then the review is coming tomorrow of episode 7, the best one yet in my opinion.  In the mean time enjoy these, most of which go out tonight on US TV.

First up for you this week is The Walking Dead, I almost reviewed last week’s episode but I really just couldn’t think of enough to say on the matter.  It is a great show but writing about zombies is proving a challenge to me, I’ll still be watching this week when the survivors morn the death of Otis, cruelly left behind by his wing man last week to face the walkers alone.  What would you have done in that situation?

Next we move onto Dexter and this week sees the action hotting up once more.  I’ve mentioned the last two weeks that Dexter has not added to his killing tally.  This week that will be rectified when his dark passenger comes back in aid of Brother Sam who was shot in the previous episode.  Away from that Gellar’s former student gets brought in by Angel and Quinn to be asked about the book she has in her apartment.

When darkness falls, terror rises.  That’s the slogan from Terra Nova this week, looking at this they are keeping up the momentum from the previous impressive episode.  A meteor is heading towards Terra Nova making the residents dive for cover, then when night falls Mira and her clan come out to play who themselves are heading for the gates of Terra Nova.

Last week’s instalment of Homeland delivered probably the best episode yet and this week it looks great again.  Carrie is left pleading with Saul to keep her job, wanting his approval to continue her pursuit of Brody suspecting he’s a sleeper agent.  Finally allowing her access doesn’t seem to do her any favours though as Brody is put on a polygraph test and would appear to pass with flying colours.

Review: HOMELAND 1.5 - Blindspot

The saga continues in what was probably the best episode of this show so far, it was classy, slick and quite revealing to some degree.  Of course being a show centred on the CIA and their investigation into terrorism the writers try very hard not to give to much away.

Like any great TV show Homeland keeps you guessing, it puts ideas of situations into your head that make you think there is no other way that could have happened other than how it just did.  Blindspot saw the capture of the only surviving Iraqi soldier (he was actually Syrian) found in the compound where Brody had been held captive for eight years.

Flown into the US by the CIA and quickly whisked off to one of their safe houses Brody's former Guard was about to feel torture USA style, mental torture in allowing him to think that the CIA all ready know everything they need to know about him, and that his unwillingness to talk is only putting his family in danger. 

Saul (Mandy Patinkin) was the man charged with getting the required info from the guard but, how did he know so much.  Step in Brody who would sit and watch the interview with Carrie (Claire Danes), whilst feeding information to Saul via an earpiece and detailing the fact that he was beaten by the man with a stick covered in barbed wire and pissed on.  Brody wanted to speak to him face to face but had to go see the big boss first, would this be a good idea? 

Granted access to his captor Brody takes great delight in telling the soldier the tables have now turned, shoe is on the other foot before being spat on causing a violent outburst from both Brody and the prisoner who only an hour later commits suicide opening up his wrists with a razor blade.  Where did he get the razor blade from?  Carrie thinks Brody slipped it to him as the pair fell into the cameras only blind spot in the room, that’s feasible I suppose but would Brody really want to do that, if he’s been radicalised like Carrie suspects then I suppose he would

Saul refuses to believe that though and is still insisting that Carrie must back off Brody and his family.  It would be a little to obvious for Brody to have done it, what’s to say Saul did not put the razor blade in the Crayon he provided the prisoner with.  After all that was the big reveal this week, Saul is married to an Indian lady who he rarely finds time for due to the stresses of his job.  There is definitely a lot more to be revealed about Saul and possibly his extended family in India.

We saw the more vulnerable side to Carrie this week, following her falling out with Saul she rushed straight to her father’s before heading to her sisters, the place she clearly feels the most comfortable.

This has been by far the best episode yet, with Saul’s interrogation of the Iraqi soldier by far one of the tensest moments I have seen, no doubt the plot will thicken even more next week.

Homeland continues November 6^th at 10pm on Showtime.

New UK Cinema Releases: 4th November 2011, IN TIME, TOWER HEIST and MACHINE GUN PREACHER

A great week at the cinema if you didn’t already know, unlike last week this weeks top four movies are all ones which I want to see, granted some more than others but I think they’ll all be pretty good.  Let’s get on with it then.

Top rated this week is Justin Timberlake’s new action thriller In Time, I posted the trailer for this some time ago and it’s certainly seen some action.  I hope it lives up to the hype.

Starring: Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy

Set in the future where people stop ageing at the 25, from there they are given one more year to live.  If you have money you can buy all the time you want, if you don’t have money then your time is up, sounds simple.  Not so much, when Will Salas (Timberlake) is given the gift of time from another person he finds himself being hunted by the systems police known as “Time Keepers” lead by Raymond Leon (Murphy).

This really does look promising and is top of my list for this weeks movies to see, it has a hint of Equilibrium (2002) about it and I love that.  I have said before that I’m a Timberlake fan and Cillian Murphy is no slouch either.

Next up this week Tower Heist, it’s an action comedy crime caper brought to us from director Brett Ratner.

Starring: Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck and Matthew Broderick

A group of hard working guys find out they have fallen victim to a wealthy business mans scheme.  Not to pleased about it they hatch a plan together and decide to rob his high rise Residence.

Ok so the plot seems pretty thin but, I think this will be pretty enjoyable.  I don’t think Murphy and Stiller have worked together before and they should bring the comedy to the forefront on this one.

Machine Gun Preacher now, a true story well it’s based on a real person anyways, Seems worth a look.

Starring: Gerard Butler, Michelle Monaghan and Michael Shannon

Like I said above, the movie is based on a real person.  Sam Childers (Butler) is a former drug dealing biker tough guy who found God and became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children who have been forced to become soldiers.

It does look a good movie and if there is one thing that Gerard Butler is good at it’s playing the tough guy, it kind of reminds me of Blood Diamond a little.

Next up for you is a movie that I put out the trailer for a while ago now, kind of like Cape Fear, Straw Dogs is released this week and ranks up with In Time of movies I want to see this week.  Everyone has a breaking point and in this movie David Summer’s (James Marsden) is just a little higher than everyone else’s, want to see the trailer click HERE.

80's Retro Midweek Mixtape: STEVIE WONDER, HALL & OATES and FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS

Like a real blogger I have a story I have a little story for you this week, what does 80's retro mean?  Well judging by the title of this post I'm hoping you got that already born in 82 I'm 29 (just), my latest phone is a Blackberry and Luckily for me or maybe you guys Blackberry are feeling really generous lately, thanks probably to their network downtime problems they have been giving away free apps.

I have to admit downloading apps to my mobile is not really my thing, I really don't have time.  Last week at work a colleague with the same phone said to me have you seen the free gift on Blackberry app world this week, no was my initial reaction because I never look at app world.  I use my phone for four to six things tops, ringing people first off, checking e-mails (3 accounts), Facebook, Twitter and Blackberry messenger, listening to music in my car and I use the Internet occasionally but not often.

Anyway I'm getting off track here back to this app, it's called Shazam, it's one of those song recognition apps that you can hold up to a stereo and it will tell you the name of the song and the person or group who sing it, I thought that might be pretty cool, being a former DJ I can't keep up with everything music wise nowadays, this could help.  I didn't think it would help me this much though, in a way I could put out a whole post on it.

I was at my Grandma's house yesterday, we get dinner there every week (it's awesome) she had her stereo on and a song came on that I've heard many a time before but didn't know the name of , this is the time to put my new app to the test and guess what it worked and threw me the answer I was looking for.  Stevie Wonder - Part Time Lover from 1985, can you believe I was 3 and still I think this is some cool shit (I don't mean shit as in shit).  Of course I never heard the song when I was 3, well I probably had but didn't know about it.  I had the song title now time for YouTube, I have to check this out later when I get home.  I do and bang a post is born.  Check out Stevie's video and I'll tell you the rest after.

Ok I told you I'd be back with the rest of the story, you enjoyed that last video didn't you!  Yeah well keep reading I promise you'll enjoy the next one too.  Back to the story now, I have been away on holidays with my parents since I can remember, I consider myself pretty well travelled.  One thing my parents did is make sure I knew all about England.  I have covered England (British Isles) from head to toe John O Groats to Lands End, pretty much.  I know what your thinking where is this going and what does it have to do with music?  I'll tell you. 

My parents love music and when we went on a staycation as they are now called, the car would be loaded up with CD'S, maybe even tapes (cassettes) back in the day, music was on where ever we went and thanks to the Stevie Wonder YouTube video above I got to find out one of the songs may parents played in the car.  The recommendations was throwing out some guys named Hall and Oates, I had never heard of them.  Looking at the picture I thought 80's, then I saw the song name "Maneater"  I've heard that before.  I took a listen and it lead me to this gem, you have to check out the video.

That takes me to the last track of this weeks mixtape 80's special, the songs I've mentioned above were in my parents Civic (Honda), I'm going Gene Hunt style now and onto my dad's Audi 80 (how retro), I heard a band here named The Fine Young Cannibals, we had the tape how cool is that, do you remember them?  They were like mu favourite band to listen to in the car, I couldn't get enough and that's how I finished my evening off last night, enjoy.

State Of The Blog

So how we doing?  Welcome to the all new MOVIESMUSICANDTELEVISION.COM, You may have noticed some changes around here recently, most notably of which is the new layout and the change in URL.  We are now minus the BLOGSPOT address. 

So the new template, posts will still be layed out the same pretty much but you now have two sidebars and the home screen has an image slider (jquery slider, if your interested).  The main reason for this change is I wanted to distance myself from DAN'S MEDIA DIGEST, an awesome blog which I read daily,  we used the same template which you'll see if you go visit him, none of the writing is the same of course but the sites did look very similar and talk about the same things.

Some of the other changes here are stuff that’s not quite so big but time consuming on my part, time which in all honesty I haven’t really got.  Away from this blogging carry on I do actually have a real job and work shifts, getting more than one post out a day can sometimes be a struggle.  Enough of my whining anyways it was my choice to do this.

I’ve started to put more of a musical feel to the site lately, since it’s in the title of the site I really felt I should be doing more so you now get two posts a week about music, that’s a decision which has done well and the new music post is probably one of my most read, needless to say that post will be continuing.

I get hung up sometimes on what I think I should be writing about, thinking probably that other sites write about this show, maybe I should to.  I cover TV pretty well in my opinion, not quite as well as other sites but the shows currently being reviewed weekly here include: Homeland, Dexter, Terra Nova, Person of Interest and I briefly touched on the season 2 premiere of The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead is a show I watch every week now but, I just don’t feel that I can come up with something worth putting out every week.  The same probably goes for Homeland, the show is pretty heavy going.  With these two shows I will probably dip in and out with reviews, meaning if there is something that I can come up with then I’ll put it out, if not then don’t expect to much.

From that there is another new post, the weeks TV previews both The Walking Dead and Homeland will still feature there along with the others as this has been a popular post viewing wise.

As always I’ll be keeping up the with the weekly cinema post, weekly news post, hopefully a weekly movie review and anything else which I think is funny or interesting and worth writing about.

I'll be back a little later with the mixtape, it's an 80's retro one this week, what can I say I was in a retro mood last night.  I would really appreciate your feedback on the new look, make sure you leave a comment below.

Review: TERRA NOVA 1.6 - Bylaw

"Terra Nova HQ, this is Foster".  "Terra Nova command, copy that".  "I just pulled up at communications station 19a" I'm thinking it's extremely dark, creepy and wet I'm in the middle of a prehistoric jungle full of Dinosaurs and am undoubtedly about to be eaten, no shit! There has been a murder in the seemingly peaceful community of Terra Nova and I have a feeling that the person who is ultimately responsible is yet to be caught.

Terra Nova is back from it's week break and it has reverted to the promise it showed during it's pilot episode "Genesis Part 1 and 2".  This episode really opened up a few avenues for break away story lines and was definitely good enough to get you watching next weeks show.

First this week you have to take off your hat to the Dinosaurs who seem to have come back from extinction, since the pilot there really haven't been to many of them kicking around.  Maybe that's the writers idea, like in Lost you didn't see the polar bear every week, or the mist for that matter.  Terra Nova's security finally managed to kill one this week too as they needed to recover the futuristic USB pen from the Raptor's stomach that is used by citizens to keep personal photos.

Jim Shannon also seemed like a fully fledged member of the security team this week, finally slipping into the Terra Nova issue combat equipment.  He was told this week to do his job by Commander Taylor and find the person responsible for the murder of his soldier Foster, it seemed at first that this was all going to be a bit of a bore once again as the murderer was found and banished very quick.  Then come all the little twists and turns.

It was clear even to me that Howard Milner (Steve Rodgers) was not responsible for the murder of Foster, something a lot more sinister and deep rooted is going on here, and clearly Sixers leader Mira is not the only person who has issues with Commander Taylor leading Terra Nova.  We may finally have figured out who is Mira's informant inside the Terra Nova gates, and there may well be more than one.

The investigation into Foster's murder lead Shannon to Boylan (Damien Garvey) the owner of Terra Nova's only bar, his character has been touched upon briefly and if it wasn't clear then that he doesn't like Commander Taylor, then it is now.  Boylan is into some pretty shady stuff, other than the illegal gambling who allows to take place at his bar he is clearly in contact with Mira but, is he her informer?  Maybe he is but my money wouldn't be on him as the main contact.

From this episode I'm gathering that Mira is the only person who has contact with 2149, that's why Boylan is in contact with her.  For money he will arrange to have certain people from 2149 sent back to Terra Nova, his latest mission is to get Josh Shannon's girlfriend to Terra Nova.  Mira had issues though and needed to speak with Josh first, informing him that he has to be available for a favour when ever she asks, no questions asked he must carry out what ever her request is.  That probably won't go down to well with his dad but like any teenager (or man) young Josh really isn't thinking with his head.

We finally found out that Mark Reynolds (Dean Geyer) a fellow soldier of Foster's was the person responsible for the murder.  Was he acting alone though?  No way, there were way to many shifty looking people this week and Boylan would come top of that list.

So this episode went back to basics if you like and I have to say I really enjoyed it, fair enough it's not prime time gold but the potential came back this week.  Terra Nova's mask is starting to come off and the seemingly peaceful new world has all the problems of 2149.

Review: DEXTER 6.5 - The Angel Of Death

Remember last weeks show?   Yeah!  Dexter didn't kill anyone.  I kind of thought he may well make up for that this week, turns out not.  Dex had the perfect opportunity too when he hid out in the back of Travis' car, I'm thinking right there that they are going to finish the Doomsday Killer story off quick maybe I was wrong on another point last week saying that Dr Gellar was not real and only a figure of Travis' imagination.  Travis came up with a defence during Dexter's interrogation though putting all the blame for the actual killings of victims on to Gellar's head.

Is this the start of Dexter letting Brother Sam into his head, could Dexter be a reformed character, has he got rid of his dark passenger?  I wouldn't have thought so, I think Dexter will just keep watching Travis until he has actual proof that he is The Doomsday Killer.  I think that's how pretty much every reviewer on the net is hoping things will go as everything I read and hear about seems to say that Gellar is not there at all, remember he only interacts with Travis.

This week we'll go down a different path, what if Travis killed Gellar (his former teacher) and now feels he must carry out the Revelation killings out of guilt.  That leaves Dexter to track and kill a very easy to find Travis who to be honest seems completely inept at anything complicated.  Travis was put in charge of kidnapping a drunken party goer this week for a Whore Of Babylon tableau, he couldn't even get that right and brought some unwanted attention upon himself.  All of this leads you to think that he isn't working alone but, if our theory on Gellar is correct then who is helping Travis?

Enter this weeks new character Carissa Porter (Mariana Klaveno) another former student of Dr Gellar's, who incidentally seems just as creepy as Gellar and Travis.  News of The Doomsday Killer has been plastered all over the papers along with Gellar's face, she has all of those old books with drawings of the Revelation killings in them.  You would think she would tell the police she has them, she clearly knows they are there.  Is she the real Doomsday Killer, maybe Travis' helper?

This also brought up a little sideline story for Angel and Quinn, two characters who are really working well together this season, maybe it's the mix with Angel looking like he's just come off the set of Miami Vice and Quinn looking like an Armani wearing CSI Detective, I don't know.  I have always liked Angel's character I find him pretty funny but I did tire a little of Quinn last season and felt he was acted off the the screen by Peter Wellar.  The story line they became involved with was a little bit unbelievable though, Quinn has turned into a bit of a loose cannon in the latest episodes but to go and sleep with someone who probably will turn out to be key in the Doomsday Killer case is a bit stupid.

What of the other story lines this week, Masuka and his latest intern, the computer genius who Masuka tasked with wiping any trace of the Ice Truck Killer investigation off the Internet after it was stolen the week before, a pointless little story all in all but it does keep us up with Masuka who is pretty funny as always.  Then you have Debra moving out of Dexter's apartment and into a beach house that was the scene of a grisly domestic murder and suicide, thanks to that she is getting cut price rent.  The new Miami Metro detective Mike Anderson seems to be helping her a lot, could this be a inter office love triangle with Debra, Anderson and Quinn?

The best bit of the night would have to be handed to Brother Sam once again, his involvement in this season has been by far the best installment and his scene's this episode leave you wanting more, unfortunately the last scene saw him getting shot, and it didn't look very promising for him.  That's a real shame as him and Dexter are striking up a real friendship with Brother Sam even popping around with beers to see how Harrison was doing.  Dexter seems willing to unveil more about his family and their past to Brother Sam than he has ever done to anyone.  I really hope Brother Sam makes a full recovery starting next week because season 6 of Dexter will not be the same place without him.

I'm really enjoying this season so far and this was another quality installment, I have heard that this season is already drawing alot of comparisons to season 4 and the Trinity Killer in light of that I'm going on a Dexter season 4 marathon tonight and hopefully from that I can draw my own conclusions.

Beyonce – 'Countdown' I like Beyonce, I really do but I just don’t know what she’s up to lately other than in this video she seems to be trying to impersonate former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland.  None of her music since “Crazy In Love” has really done it for me and this latest release is exactly the same.

Birdy – 'People Help The People' This is another one of those acts where you think the name is referring to a band, it doesn’t Birdy is the stage name of British Musician Jasmine Bogaerde who at the age of 12 won an open mic competition.  This song is the follow up to her cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” which she had quite a hit with.

Cher Lloyd – 'With Ur Love' Some people honestly do get recording contracts having very little talent.  Cher appeared on this week’s X Factor results show to showcase this new song, much like the X Factor itself this song is absolute trash.  Cowell is clearly running the popularity band wagon on this one which is the follow up to her debut single Swagger Jagger, which incidentally was also appalling.  I really didn't want to put a Cher Lloyd video here for you, so instead I've opted for a very funny impression of her from Celebrity Juice comedian Keith Lemon.  (sorry about the quality, best one avalibe and I didn't have time to download the episode and cut it up myself).

Probably known more in his blues/rock group Connan & The Mockasin’s the New Zealander has now gone his own way, as far as this song goes I actually switched it off out of boredom.

Charlie Simpson – 'Cemetery' I’m thinking WHO?  This is the dude who was in rock band Busted, he has since gone on to set up his own band named Fightstar and has now gone solo also.  It’s nice to see some real music done where people actually play instruments and I haven’t decided weather or not I like this yet, maybe it’ll grow on me.

The Drums – 'How It Ended' These guys are an American indie rock band, I haven’t heard of them and after taking a listen to this song I don’t think I’ll be downloading any of there albums.

Gruff Rhys – 'Space Dust 2' Remember the Super Furry Animals, a rock band back in the 90’s?  Yeah!  Then you will know who this guy is but don’t get to excited this songs not all that.

Kelly Rowland – 'Down For Whatever' Following my comment on the Beyonce tune Kelly should probably be impersonating her this week but she’s not.  This song is actually pretty good she has kept with her upbeat R&B style and this will probably prove a bit of hit in the clubs.

Avril Lavigne – 'Wish You Were Here' No longer a skater girl Avril is back with her latest offering, her music has matured a lot but it's not really my cup of tea.

Sean Paul feat. Alexis Jordan – 'Down For Whatever' Sean Paul is making a bit of a comeback lately, however I think my sources may have mixed up this title of this song, it should maybe say “Got 2 Luv U”, I can’t find Down For Whatever anywhere if anyone can enlighten me then leave me a comment at the bottom.

Toploader – 'She Said' An English band making a bit of a comeback, I think they are way short of their hey day though.  This song has only had 546 hits on YouTube, Have they done any promotion?  For those hits they have 12 likes but no comments.  It’s not really for me.

Little Dragon – 'Little Man'These guys are a Swedish electro pop group, I have never heard of them and judging by this latest effort I dont think I will be looking into them to much.
